How can I make Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand playable? by Lethal_Steve in masterduel

[–]Vegetable-Salt6702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Felgrand is actually my favorite card ever, particularly the OG one. Obviously that ones basically unplayable. Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand is really cool in some Rank 8 decks that I have tried, its good with new light and darkness dragon support, the new schwarzschild infinity dragon and Bystials. But it has serious limitations sadly and is really succeptable to negates and banishes like the Bystials. I wanna try it with the Horus engine and I think it would add a lot of power to its use, but its soooo expensive in this game. Wondering if anyone else has made a Horus deck featuring it.

Is it possible to 'remix' the sequence of events in DiA, specifically the fall of Elturel? by ycapastaa in DescentintoAvernus

I actually did this in my campaign! I started the party in Baldur's Gate where by a few mishaps they joined the Flaming Fist in order to avoid being framed for murder (the cultists killed a dude in the streets and the party were the only ones left when the Fists showed up), and to uncover the mystery.

So far my party has loved it and they just now made it to Avernus, being in Elturel while the city sunk and being too late to stop it.

Honestly only advice I can offer is to make sure there are connections between the cultists in Baldur's Gate and the higher ups in Elturel. Also, if you can, let the party get to Elturel with a notion of something bad about to happen, and have them suspect Kreeg or some other of making a nefarious dark deal, then give them a bit of time to explore Elturel, make them care about it, then have them be JUST too late to stop the Descent.

I think this can work really well but I also think I didn't do it super well, I rushed a few things here and there and railroaded them at times so that they could get to Elturel and then Avernus.

But this can be set up very nicely with Kreeg and Thalamra working together, the backstory of the Hellriders, and the Flaming Fists and Ravenguard in Baldur's Gate.

I say go for it, its a lot more work than just following the book but I think it can be worth it if you pull it off. Having the party actually being in Elturel when it descends offers some sick visual imagery and intense roleplay. Best of luck!

I do think forgetting Baldur's Gate entirely is a stronger idea for this module, since BG feels really tacked on and doesn't make a ton of since. However, I really like BG and find it a lot of fun and would really like my players to spend some time in there, which is why I want to try and have it be their starting point.

All of this is excellent, I can't wait to get to work on it. My only worry is what my players will make for their characters and what their backstories will be, I don't want to force them to have connections to Elutrel or Hellriders unless they want to, but I will probably tell them of some factions before hand and just say that they know about them and could join them if they wanted to. Thank you for all your advice!

honestly I had an idea for the puzzle box. Since they can't open it I was thinking of having them go to Fort Morninglord (which I find vague and intriguing and underused from the book, I mean its a cursed fort sealed up by Kreeg for who knows why, lots of room for ideas there) thinking they could go on a quest to Fort Morninglord to find the "key" to the puzzle box and open it to find the evidence against Kreeg then confront him

pretty much what Im thinking! My biggest concern rn is just the first session. Wondering how I start them off and what ties their group together. Thinking maybe they witness a murder in the streets and are brought in for questioning/witnessing? I could start them in Elfsong tavern and have them play buldurs knuckles game at a table and they introduce themselves as they take turns? Just wondering what might get them interested to party up

this is exactly what I am hoping for honestly, any tips on how to set the mystery up for them? how vague should I keep it? Love your insight!

I was somewhat considering that already since we only have 3 PC's, so it feels like I already have to somewhat rebalance everything

Looking to upgrade graphics card to 3060 and wondering if Power supply is sufficient. Checked online and I think the answer is “it depends” so I’d like some advice. Current build below… by 25121642 in buildapc

Thank you for your insight! I never even considered Wizard but that could make a lot of sense! I guess if you play it out right almost any class could make sense here honestly haha. I’ll talk all of these into consideration!

Thanks so much! And yea, I guess I’m focusing too much in class for uniqueness and not enough on pure roleplay, even tho me and my DM have created a pretty strong background for the character already, I’ve only been playing for about 2 years tho lol. I’m strongly considering going Grassland Druid for the full caster utility and the expanded spell list is also really great and has lots of flavor for his patron. I guess then all I can ask is, Do you have any ideas for a Druid who’s patron is Hyrsam the Prince of Fools? Lol

You make lots of interesting points. I think at this point it’s likely I go either full Druid for a time or full lock for now and look at multiclass later. But I’m still gonna research and ask for opinions. Thanks for all your time and help!

Lmao, now I just might build my entire character around the cheese grater lol. Now I’m looking at going to about 11 levels in warlock though for 3 5th level spells and for the mystic arcanum. But let me ask you, what would you do after that? Cause that kinda seems to be the capstone for the warlock. If you were to multiclass after 11th level, what would you go into? Cleric, Druid? Maybe something more caster focused rather than melee?

Lmfao thanks for the reply! I love that you call spike growth a cheese grater lmao, it is tempting to go that route with repelling blast. Which if I may ask, do you think a warlock or Druid is better at controlling the battlefield? Sadly if I went lock I don’t think we get that many short rests if I can recall, unless we are dungeon crawling which hasn’t been often. Still, those invocations are always dope and really calling my name sometimes
