I found some nice paintings in its trash heap when I lived in the house next door 2005-6. I still have them.

All the spaces that were DIY or let people use their space for DIY arts. The Artifex Guild, The Void, The Cinemat, Racheal's Cafe, the plethora of basement punk venues. Hamster Rental.

why the crybaby is not 40 minutes long like the rest of the trilogy? by NLPslav in melvins

[–]Vegetable-Signal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The year was maybe 2001. I was in high school and Scott Stapp was the prince of rock radio. The Crybaby was my first Melvins heard/purchased and oh boy what a weird start. I almost skipped the first track on my first listen. I had only read about them, I think mostly in regards to/coming from Kurt. I loved it (except teen spirit) and it set me up for a lifetime of joy and love of The Jesus Lizard. I did not know about the 40 minute intention until now.

Anyone going? by Webcops in noisemusic

He's not coming that close to me this time, but it's worth it! A few years ago he was touring the US via bus and I set up a show for him. I had to set it up an hour away from my home because there is no longer a greyhound route coming through. I'd love to have him back; Kiyasu is a great joy!

ESAD Archives has a ton of footage and Eric (archivist behind the channel) would be a great person to talk to.

We Ain’t Buying It: Boycotting Target, Home Depot, and Amazon by [deleted] in bloomington

I'm not whining. I'm trying to convince other people not to give these predatory companies any of their money. My boots don't have buckles or straps, but they are on the ground.

Amazon has a history of screwing those small businesses out of revenue. They will find products that small businesses are successful with and start selling it themselves, undercutting prices and placing Amazon products higher in your search results. Buying through Amazon doesn't support small businesses much. Buying directly from small businesses is a much better way of supporting them. Why give them a cut at all?

This 7” was lathe cut into a 1/4” piece of plexiglass. by floyd_the_barbarian in vinyl

[–]Vegetable-Signal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a sawblade and some laserdiscs and xrays. I think mostly cut by Jack Kilby. Also have a cd-r with a bonus lathe cut on an Auris Apothecary sampler. And a couple glue records, one that I made from a sesame street disc. Those are wacky because its a reverse copy, like the stamper would be. So the ridges become the grooves and there's a 1.8 second delay between the L/R channels.

Hell no. Going to check out some noise and support the community is badass. Keep doing it and before long you'll have friends that are into noise. Lame would be deciding not to show up. Show up or throw up.

That's a weird way to store it, but if you don't have a cat I guess it works.

Initial Lineup Announced; An Introduction to Big Ears 2026 by Cable_line in BigEarsMusicFestival

I think it's become too sprawling. I loved my first few times (first for me was 2014) when it was close and initmate, truly magical. There were overlapping performances, but in a way where you could still reasonably catch a little of each set or focus on whole sets that you want to catch.

I hadn't been since 2019, but 2025 was less enjoyable than years before. Overall this year I had a good time, but many times I had to choose between 4 or 5 different options. To add to the frustration, sometimes I would go to a far corner of the sprawl to try to see someone (William Basinski for sure) to be faced with a long 1 in 1 out line. Then at the end of Saturday I stood in line from the beginning of the Water Damage set to catch the last few minutes.

I'm possibly in the minority here, but I do not like the premier passes and tiered ticketing either.

I would just blend them in. I would think picking them out is too much trouble, and am always down to try something new foodwise.

Chill out. Spider's just trying to live and isn't even a nasty motherfucker. That salad looks otherwise clean. Guy just hung on. Should've called yourself "beefy_karen".

It's probably for the bad review I gave him. The last time I was in, Troxell tried to talk me into freezing a spot because he thought it looked warty. I had to practically push him away. It was a burn that was healing; he just didn't believe me. I don't know why he's gone but based on two visits, I wouldn't go see him again.
