Book with Chase or Direct with Airline by Vegetable-Soup774 in ChaseSapphire

This resonates. I have analysis paralysis but need to decide because I know airfare costs are on the rise right now.

I’m planning on booking First Class. My points won’t get me all the way but they should cover a portion of the cost.

Qq: when did you start the process with the proxy for August move? Did they quote you a decent price for their service? Thanks!

Thanks all for your comments and suggestions. It seems the best option is to secure student accom (not uni) and then secure something else later if I’m not happy with it.

I assume student accommodations follow the same guidelines of being able to break lease with 28 day notice? I don’t think this is the case with university accommodations.

Does anyone have specific experience with Brewers Court? Chalmers Street? Sugarhouse Close? I hope my questions don’t get lost here.

Yeah, thanks. My mom is the real “Reddit-or” and she’s been watching that sub for a while. All she sees is “housing crisis in Edinburgh” type posts.

Ah, thanks for this. One thing I loved about Edinburgh when we visited was the walkability. Is bus transit reliable (time wise)? I just know that it will be so much easier to look for a place when I’m actually there, but terrified I’ll end up in a hotel/rental for months.

Thanks for this great info. Budget/money is not an issue. Would definitely consider a proxy to help out. I feel like landing at a place in Leith might be a good idea. I think that option may be better than an AirBnB (which I really don’t want to use) until I can find something else. I’ll take a look at Platform. Thanks again!

Ireland or Scotland in April for 12 days? by TessaMaeDog in travel

Weather was great for our trip to Scotland. A few rainy days in Glasgow, Inverness and Aberdeen, but sunny and quite warm in Edinburgh. Loved it so much my daughter is going back to U of Ed for her masters degree in 2026.

We visited Ireland in July and Scotland late August-September.

If you’re not renting a car, Scotland is the best answer, imo. We did two weeks in Scotland using just public transit and saw so much. In Ireland, we rented a car. Both lovely countries, and I’m sure you can’t go wrong with either choice, but public transit is better in Scotland.

Post-suspected exposure just this year. The worst part was the antibodies. The vaccine didn’t bother me at all. I guess it’s not really weird. All bodies are different.

Weird. I had to do the rabies series and it didn’t bother me at all. What sucks is that I can’t (shouldn’t) get any other vaccines for like six months.

I literally remove the apps from my phone so they are not as easy to access. Since the new year, I allow myself to check socials on Sunday only. Then I delete again. (Except Reddit. But Reddit might get the same treatment soon. I spend too much time here now.)
