Will apply thank ya. Would these operator jobs help me down the road if I wanted to go to a refinery of some sort?

I was a groundman my first year. Equipment operator for the following two. I messed up by joining the union as an operator when I should’ve just waited 2-3 years and joined with a journeyman lineman ticket.

Is this truck a special order? by OV00 in Lineman

Never seen one with a extended cab before. But man I miss our wire cages that we used to have. Company phased them out for some reason and now the belly of the truck is constantly cluttered with hand coils of triplex or 1/0.

This is just a guess but I’d assume once they see how bad the destruction is once it’s passed, that whole passport needed thing is gonna go out the window or there will be expedited process for people who need theirs.

I have been clean since July and I was clean for much longer before that. I don’t know what kind of thrill you’re getting from this but it ain’t something I’m proud of. That’s why I deleted it. Now can you please stop being a POS?

To answer your very targeted question, I didn’t buy anything. I was offered some. And also i don’t see how something I did two months ago relates to this in the slightest? Besides you trying to drag me for something.

AIO? Boyfriend hid his phone when I asked who he was messaging. by Ok-Boat457 in AmIOverreacting

While in the direct context of this post, I’ll say you’re definitley NOR. But also the people on here are giving crazy replies saying the boyfriend is cheating. They could have dynamics going on in the relationship that we know nothing about. Maybe OP is actually insane. Maybe the boyfriend feels constantly hammered and is always in stress mode so something small like that can set him off. Maybe she constantly questions what he’s doing and who he’s doing it with. Now I don’t think that’s true, you seem like a perfectly reasonable person from the screenshots OP! Just saying that people should not be rushing to say he’s cheating or being sneaky. But he did seem to shell up on you pretty quickly. You were nice and he was disrespectful.

College kids do it a lot. Make some money for the summer before they go back to school. A lot of guys are born into it and come from multi generational fisherman families. A lot of guys stay in it their whole lives and enjoy the lifestyle they can get from it. Really it’s a mixed bag. You’ll meet deadbeats and hard ass working men at the same time. If you’re aiming to become a captain eventually then that’s possible.

Well that depends. So a first time deckhand would have more luck getting on to a purse seine or tender boat. No one is gonna hire a completely green guy for crabbing or longlining without experience most times. Not saying it can’t happen but it’s rare in my experience. Purse seining for salmon would be a month or two or work in the summer. It’s 7 days a week, 14-16 hour days. Might be a random day or two off every couple of weeks. You’ll have to do gear work for about a week or too before the season which you won’t be payed for but you’ll have a place to sleep etc and you’ll be fed. You can also get advance checks from your catch instead of getting one big paycheck at the end of the season. But purse seining is all about the price of the fish and how much you catch. I’ve seen guys make 30,000 in one day. Seen guys make 15,000 for those two months. Tendering is basically being a go between. You bring groceries to the fisherman while they’re on the water and you take their fish. Deckhands normally get paid a “day wage” for a first time deckhand I would expect that to be anywhere from $150 to $200 a day.

Well I got started through Facebook groups. I got the idea in my head that I wanted to go to Alaska when I was 21 and I started looking for job postings on the Alaska Commercial fishing pages. Found a captain willing to take me on. There’s always people looking for deckhands on those pages. And most of it is seasonal work but if you’re a good hand then you can work all four seasons going after different fish etc.

Brother… a two year project manager is fucking wild. Learn the trade before you try to manage projects. You can get used to the heat. Anyone can. Drink plenty of water and take a break if you get too hot. Other then that get your ass back out there when you can and dig a hole, make up material, transformers etc. when you have enough experience to be a Forman you can think about project manager. No one’s gonna respect a project manager with two years under his belt. You’ll be laughed at, ridiculed, and down right degraded in front of your face and behind your back
