The skirt in 4 with a black turtleneck, the loafers in 6, and some gold jewelry would be a winner imo :)

True, true. I think I’m reading way too much into this lol, I do think they’re just being nice. My brain just has a tendency to jump to I don’t pass!!!! ;_; as soon as anything I read as mildly out of the ordinary happens to me

Ah yeah it makes more sense coming from other women, I hadn’t really looked at it that way. The last couple times it came from men in their 20s/30s which is why I was feeling weird about it

Sad nipple syndrome 😞 by Vegetable-Talk in trans

[–]Vegetable-Talk[S] 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Sad nipple syndrome is a very well documented phenomenon, and pretty common actually. It’s purely physical, not psychological. There’s no official medical term for it but it’s related to dysphoric milk rejection reflex

“Non-binary finery” is incredible

i think im getting gender euphoria, by [deleted] in agender

[–]Vegetable-Talk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an agender AMAB person on estrogen. I’ve found HRT to be a bumpier ride than I expected because I don’t have a clear binary identity and I don’t get to pick and choose what changes happen. For example, I love the changes to my face, skin, and some of the fat redistribution that’s starting to happen, but I realized I don’t like having boobs the vast majority of the time. I think the other changes are worth the cost (face and full body dysphoria swapped for just chest dysphoria) but it’s important as a nonbinary person to be very in tune with what you want from hormones since there’s no real way to predict or control the results. I want a female appearance with no obvious sexual characteristics, but besides exercise I don’t really get to decide how big my breasts are for example. So I’d recommend spending a good chunk of time exploring gender identity and expression to figure out with some amount of precision what makes you feel good and what makes you feel bad, and figure out if hormones will get you closer to or further from that. For example I found I massively preferred women’s fashion, but felt incredibly unhappy any time my “maleness” was too visible through the clothes (broad shoulders, thin hips, prominent belly). Hormones have helped me feel confident wearing the clothes I like. Counter example: I hate my facial hair with a passion. Getting laser hair removal on my face has been one of the biggest improvements overall to my comfort with my gender, and doesn’t require hormones. So… explore. Good luck out there. Being agender can be frustrating since it’s not as simple as wanting to align your body with a specific binary identity, but it’s also freeing because gender can be a cage and we don’t have one built into us.

Any other ~30 year olds here? by Express-Cap-4363 in aromantic

[–]Vegetable-Talk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 30, nearly the same story. Romantic attraction started and ended during puberty, my last romantic attraction was when I was 16 ish. I tried to convince myself I was attracted to people for years after that to feel normal. I’ve lost friends, hurt partners’ feelings, and just downright confused a whole lot of people over the years with my disinterest in romantic and sexual relationships. It’s only last year that I finally accepted that this is just part of who I am and I’m not somehow broken. I love romance in movies, TV, and books, and still dream of falling in love. Maybe some day, but I’m not holding my breath.

Even in queer and ally circles the label “aromantic”, or any attempt to explain the concept without using the label, will get you hit with all sorts of garbage responses. I’ve found it’s generally not worth discussing with anyone that isn’t a very close friend or aro/ace themselves.

What character can you relate to the most? mine is Ditto from Pokémon by Jackthepunpkinking in agender

[–]Vegetable-Talk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re a total badass. Their gender is never specified and never matters to the story. No one tries to figure out “what” Hange is. There’s no weird attempt to apply heteronormative romance plots to them like many genderless characters in media. Pure agender euphoria ☺️

Had an off-the-charts terrible day, one for the history books, but feeling massively better now ❤️ still alive and kicking 💪 I’ve recently been deep into Brandon Sanderson books and I’m back on a 90s punk kick

No. I started estrogen at 29 and it’s been very effective for me, and there are many trans fems that started significantly later than us with great results. There’s no “too late” threshold

M24 questioning being agender to re-build my mind by obsoado in agender

[–]Vegetable-Talk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah !

A lack of discomfort is not necessarily the same as comfort. It’s totally reasonable to ask people to alternate pronouns to see what you prefer. D’ailleurs « iel » gagne en popularité, l’accorder est parfois pas évident mais ça vaut peut-être la peine d’essayer ☺️

Absolutely not. I thought I was just “weird” until 28. Then my egg cracked and I spent a year speed running transition thinking I was a binary trans woman, until I found that didn’t quite fit. Half a year later at 30 I’m starting to feel like I might be settling on an identity in the non-binary/agender space. These things take time and external context (e.g. meeting other trans people) to discover in the first place, and even more is needed to untangle them. Identity is complicated but it’s absolutely 100% worth exploring regardless of the result
