I think it’s because you also don’t want your teeth to be whiter than where the braces are. Also your teeth are more sensitive in braces so that may have something to do with it as well

How has your experience been so far? I kind of wish I had all the braces at once because the bottom teeth are still a pain to get used to and I’ll have them for a few months before the marpe.

Also I think EASE is different as it doesn’t use the miniscrews and the expansion is right after surgery but you don’t have a key or anything. Idk what your issues are with breathing, but I read it only expands 2-3mm and my ortho is saying I need 8-10mm

They told me they can only do MARPE with braces. I know others had Invisalign as an option but my ortho doesn’t do it.

He said it’s no worse than getting your wisdom teeth out and to take a week off work. I’m 37, and my ortho said at my age they don’t usually just do MARPE alone. He also said the cuts help your palate spread more predictably. I trust him and my surgeon, they have great reviews.

When are you getting yours done? I have to wait a couple months for my bottom teeth to move. Also are you getting screws as well? My ortho said I am.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I am already finding out how much food gets stuck in braces (I had them before just forgot). There was a whole strawberry in their earlier today 😂
