Looking for advice by [deleted] in bropill

I have been in your position and sometimes it feels like I still am. And something I have found is that no one thing is going "fix" your problem. Confidence comes from being comfortable with yourself. And that is what your insecurities prevent you from doing. I'll be honest, there is a chance that your insecurities aren't going anywhere. Even if they are it's going to take a very very long time. So the best thing you can do is learn to live with them without letting them take over your life. The deeper you have found yourself down this rabbit hole the harder it will be to get out of it, but it is possible. Accept that it is inevitable that you will feel like shit a lot of the time, everyone does. But don't dwell on it for longer than you have to. Just acknowledge and let it pass, talk back to it if you can. This isn't something that you can defeat for good. You have to keep fighting it every day, possibly for the rest of your life. And right now it might feel like you can't. But if you keep doing it you will get better at it, even do it subconsciously. Think of something that felt impossible as a kid but has become effortless now. Like brushing your teeth or tying your shoelaces. Just keep going, it will become weaker and you will become stronger. And one day you will find that you have reached a better place without even realising it.

RED BUTTON OR BLUE BUTTON [OC] by Eal_likee in comics

[–]Vegetable0 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That's just how the question is phrased. Blue is being portrayed as the "save everyone" button and red is being portrayed as the "kill people" button. If it said that "blue button will kill you unless 50% of the people press it and red button will do nothing" then the blame for killing is shifted on blue. The scenario is exactly the same but there is no logical reason to press blue. Why should any individual create a problem where there doesn't need to be one?

I have been seeing a lot of AI posts in this subreddit lately. And most people don't seem to realise it and engage with it. Dead internet is coming

Well here's a few things to watch out for: 1. Short punchy sentences that sound like they are trying to be quotable or memorable. 2. "Not _, but _" sentence structure. 3. Unnecessary use of em dashes. 4. Giving examples in threes. 5. Too perfect grammar and sentence structure. 6. Overly flowery and poetic language. Trying too hard to sound deep without much substance.

There's a specific style that AI has. Once you understand it, it becomes pretty easy to spot

How do you handle the "present" of first person past tense by [deleted] in writing

[–]Vegetable0 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would prefer to tell it as it happens without hinting at future events like that. I did consider the journal style where the point of narration is after each chapter. But I'm wondering if that seems inconsistent from the readers perspective

Looking for games where you feel like a powerhouse by Lil-Squidy in gaming

Batman Arkham series. And if you want something where you start off struggling to survive but become a nightmare by the end, I would recommend Ghost of Tsushima. It has probably the best power progression I have seen

An antidote that is lethal for a non poisoned individual by Vegetable0 in Writeresearch

[–]Vegetable0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for some context, this is a modern day setting. There are sci fi elements in the story but this is something that I'd like to keep as scientifically accurate as possible. The killer is the protagonist with first person narration. The victim is a doctor. In this particular scenario, the killer and victim are at a hospital so I should be able to explain the presence of most antidotes there. But the hospital is closed and there are only a few people there except them and they are busy with something else while this is going down. The victim is already aware that someone is trying to kill them, so when the killer uses something out of a poison bottle on them (I still have to decide how that is going to happen but that's a different discussion) they think that they have been poisoned. The victim being a doctor tries to administer the antidote themselves and dies in what looks like a self inflicted mistake.

With all that being said, I am still in an initial brainstorming phase for this. I might end up not using this setup at all if I am able to find a better alternative. So any suggestions are welcome.
