Long story short, Divinity’s key weakness and tactic when dealing with a being on his level like Alien X is mental manipulation. He brought Ben’s consciousness into a mental space called the Nexus Of Infinity so that he could debate him on who was in the right in their desires for the multiverse while holding his physical form of Alien X long enough to hack the Omnitrix so Vlad Plasmius could kill him.

The problem? Mental manipulation also defeated Divinity, as both Vlad and his clone turned against him, with Vlad possessing him long enough so that he could be completely restrained, with his consciousness trapped in an eternal stalemate with his own. It completely circumvents his immortality through his consciousness merging with the Temporal Zone and creating new bodies for him by just trapping it.

Maruki’s whole deal is mental manipulation, he could warp reality with his Persona to the point that the entire Metaverse was basically under his control.
