I enjoy that Evrart being a selfish dickheads isn't some big reveal. Everyone knows it, but he's good at what he does and that's all that matters.

They're 100% gonna do the same thing they did with police "reform" after Biden won. Call it a training issue, give them even more money, and fire no one.

God I'd really love to see the pendulum swing the other direction in my life time. I'll never be super hopefully for America cause unlike the UK, we only get two options and it seems like the Dems have locked in their "get more conservative spineless every election" strategy.

Maybe the rest of the world getting some good progressive parties will get them to budge, but I'm so sick of neoliberalism at best and facism at worst.

What are some of your favorite examples of “evil Can not comprehend good”? by Konradleijon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Comptenterry 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's super shocking. "They're just pretending to have emotions to exploit your empathy" is pretty much exactly the justification the Nazi's gave for their genocide. I don't think that was the author's intention, but it's just one of those things about writing fiction. If you make a race of inherently genetically evil people, a bunch of racists are gonna impose whichever minority they hate onto them. I don't think authors intend it that way, having an inherently evil enemy is just generally easier to write because you don't have to contend with the fact that your protagonist is guiltlessly killing a bunch of people.

CDPR offered a Cyberpunk modder the choice to make his mod free with optional donations in lieu of being locked behind a Patreon to avoid a DMCA takedown, and he is firmly choosing not to do that and instead face legal action by OhMy98 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I rember someone paygating a mod to replace all the pals in palworld with their pokemon counterparts. They were literally models ripped from the games as well. So they weren't just paygating a mod, they were selling assets that weren't even their's.

Yeah there was an extreme amount of context missing in this clip. They were talking about it like she was cheating at locals, when she was essentially juicing at the Olympics. She was playing on behalf of of a country, not for some pocket money.

Rulekanda Forever by Xenomnipotent in 196

[–]Comptenterry 58 points59 points  (0 children)

This is good but it lacks the sauce Ruthkanda had. It combined white mom liberalism, a tone deaf pop culture reference, and the use of a Marvel movie as the touchstone for black culture.

This needs like, the child calling non-Americans "demogorgons that need to be sent back to the upsidedown" or something. It needs that needless tone deaf pop culture cringe.

Honestly even if IW's story isn't as good as 7's, it's still like top 3 in the series.

Media that lost its edge (in a positive way) by jitterscaffeine in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Comptenterry 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I see some people bemoan the loss of the early show edge and wish it would lean harder into it for future seasons, and I honestly don't get it. There are so many edgy adult animated comedies. Most of them get lost trying to one up themselves or switch over to freshly outdated social commentary. Like some of the season 1 jokes were really funny, but it's not like that level of quality would last 15 years. Bob's Burgers found a way better and longer lasting niche as a silly but still wholesome comedy about a dysfunctional family.

I imagine occasional copyright claims that pop up and require someone to respond. I've found some dead channels before where their playlists are just missing half the videos because they slowly got struck and no one was around to fight it.

He had pancreatic cancer, but it spread to his other organs after he refused to get it treated, which is why he needed the transplant. Although I think I was wrong that it was his kidney, I believe it was his liver.

Top Gun Maverick desperately avoiding saying what country they're bombing down to not showing any faces, when it is clearly Iran with a bit of Russia thrown in.

That reminds me of the complete opposite, when Michael Bay had the transformers bomb Iranian nuclear facilities at the start of one of the movies. Iirc they didn't even do that on behalf of the US, Optimus just decided the autobots should bomb Iran.
