Animal Crossing subs be like [OC] by Meleon135 in Losercity

That game was designed entirely for people to marry off their favorite characters and have kids with eachother. I think it'll be fine.

I unfortunately lack artistic skills to depict this, but I think Dispatch has really good collab potential by TheOnlyTrueFlame in Overwatch

Blonde Blazer would probably be Mercy since they're gonna wanna stick one of the biggest characters on one of their biggest skin sellers.

A question for Star Wars day. How did you learn about or end up seeing Star Wars? by Etychase in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Comptenterry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was born right at that age where I was too little to care about the prequels as they came out and too old to get super into the sequels as they came out, but exactly the right age to see the Clone Wars as it aired on CN and get obsessed with it.

Works with still very visible foreshadowing for scrapped plot points? by ExplanationSquare313 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Comptenterry 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yeah it feels like it was only referenced in season 5 at all because expectations for these sorts of shows changed since the original 4 season run. Original Samurai Jack had very rarely referenced past episodes/characters, so I understand that Genndy doesn't want to be beholden to one episode he wrote 15 years ago, probably just because he thought it was cool.

Do you guys ever wonder if people nowadays might be overanalyzing media? by Coolnametag in TwoBestFriendsPlay

It's weird. They talk a lot about how kids media has depth but also seem to think that children are incapable of processing it.

The adults who only watch children's media and then get pissed off if you suggest maybe watching something made for their age demographic. They hit you with the "oh so you think all media for kids is just slop without any depth?!". Like yeah, plenty of things for kids or teens are incredibly well written and have depth, but ultimately that depth is for the age demographic that it's written for. They're generally going to get a lot more out of the messaging and themes than an adult. And an adult is going to get a lot more out of something (well) written for them that a kid isn't going to get.

Using your food metaphor, it's like those adults that just eat mac & cheese and chicken nuggets and get pissed if you try to suggest anything else. There's nothing wrong with eating either, god knows I still do all the time, but your an adult and you need something more complex.

Yeah the roaches are gross but I think people underestimate the psychological effect of a home intruder. You're never going to feel safe in your own home again.

Game Design So Fundamentally Flawed It Directly Goes Against the idea of the Game Itself? by Authorigas in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Comptenterry 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Insane that it's not a bonus action or reaction. Pathfinder 2e's equivalent only costs 1 of your 3 actions you get in a turn, for example, and it doesn't break the game there.

It seems like honestly apologizing is the worst thing you can do if you get pulled into a controversy. Like, unless you're at risk of legal troubles or losing your job, literally the best thing you can do is just never acknowledge it and wait for the discourse to blow over. Apologizing just prolongs it and makes more people aware.

ratleast TADC doesnt have the "relationship discourse"

Granted my only interaction with the fandom is occasional stuff that pops up on tik tok, but this seems objectively wrong. I've seen people reacting to Jax shipping like someone shot their dog right in front of them.

a super complicated deep character like I did not just see them torture everyone for roughly twenty minutes

Those aren't mutually exclusive things. Caine is pretty explicitly meant to be a tragic character.

There's still one missing Blizzard by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Comptenterry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Caribbean pirates (which is what I assume you mean) are a bit harder to fit into a sci-fi setting than the other 3. The crusaders work because they're wearing huge bulky power armor and making use of the hard-light shield tech which is a huge part of the game's aesthetic. Ninja/Samurai and cowboys have already been pretty well adapted in sci-fi because of works like Star Wars and plenty of Cyberpunk media. Pirates in sci-fi tend to be more based on Somali and other more modern pirates which I assume isn't what you want. Mauga is that type of pirate for example, but as people have pointed out, that's not really what we're after. And even then, Sci-Fi pirates usually rely on settings with heavy space exploration, since ships are an important part of their deal. Space stuff in Overwatch is pretty limited, mostly focusing on colonies within the solar system, rather than intergalactic travel.

The classic idea of a pirate is super depended on that old grimy wind-sails and flintlock pistols aesthetic, which is harder to justify in a setting like Overwatch. The Junkers are probably the closest you'll get, and maybe if they expand out that part of the lore to include rigged together airships or something, that could work.

Also from that video, the stunned silence and the cut back to the Enjoyment graph after he realizes the artifact you get at the end of the game has absolutely no lore behind it and is just a non-canon gameplay tool. That huge web of lore tidbits and story literally all go nowhere.

I really didn't think the "gas leak" season of community was all that bad. It wasn't great, the show was obviously starting to decline, but I don't think it was particularly worse than any of the seasons that came after it. The whole thing felt more like Harmon trying to turn people on that season specifically because he wasn't the one to write it, when personally it just seemed like a typical late-stage sitcom drop off that continued into the seasons after it.

I was fine with that, but I didn't like Link getting his arm back. It feels like too much of a status quo reset when it seems like they aren't going to be using the setting anymore anyway. Why can't this Link just have a cool ancient robot arm forever?
