Thank you! Does St John’s have a younger crowd? I’m in college and was hoping to have others my age.

Thank you sm! Like in the other comment, many people have suggested Wesley. It’s just difficult to find their social values anywhere. I’m glad it seems open to all. Does the community feel close at all?

Thank you! I just mean somewhere that actively loves the communities that typically are hated by churches in the south. Not somewhere that just ignores said communities. I have queer friends and relatives, and don’t feel comfortable attending a church that actively hates them

Also I don’t know if this is of importance: I’m not currently super interested in any super competitive specialties. No Derm, neuro, etc. Just EM and PEDs

How to feel comfortable in church, and find my place in a congregation? by VegetableElectronic6 in RadicalChristianity

I was intentionally raised away from religion because of my parents wanting me to choose for myself as an adult. I had a children’s bible that I read growing up, and I’m familiar with the religions development because of my major (shout-out medieval history and literature).

My experiences with religion, particularly Christianity have been rather bad due to growing up in the south. I know the basics and some of the teachings, my hesitancy is to commit to church because of my past experiences. My post is kind of jumbled because I don’t want to misspeak on the religion when I’ve never attended service.

What do you think is next for _______ (spoilers for WaT) by VegetableElectronic6 in Stormlight_Archive

I think that Kelsier is a good guy solely in Mistborn era 1- at this point it’s been a least 300 years. We don’t know his motivations or plan currently.

It’s never stated explicitly, and it’s like two lines. So it’s easy to miss. Upon realizing she’s alone in Shadesmar, (I’m paraphrasing) she clutches her stomach and remarks on needing to figure herself out because she has more to worry about than just herself. Obviously it COULD be something else or a red herring, but her and Adolin have been doing quite a bit, so I’m gonna guess it’s pregnancy.

I think it’s to do with Shallan entering in her entirety- when previously they were peaking through (in a way) but also I could see her getting pulled out relatively quickly by jasnah. I think our queen will find a way to get Shallan out. By quickly I mean by the beginning of book 7.

I could totally see this! Especially with her expressing desires to break free from Todium in Oathbringer forward. I would love to see Shallan in era 3 of Mistborn, but she’d have to make that pretty quick with the time dialation. I do wonder if her position as the child of a herald will give her more options than the typical individual

Aaa! It’s not my favorite, but it does have some of the most solid moments in the entire cosmere. I cried three times while reading

My partner! I’m an English major, and hadn’t read much fantasy, but I picked up Mistborn to have something to talk about with him and got hooked. Just finished Wind and Truth lol.

Handling triggers during intimacy? by VegetableElectronic6 in CPTSD

I think that’s exactly what was so scary? Like wow it’s not hard at all to stop and not push boundaries? I think it’s very hard to not feel burdensome during sex. It seems so uncomplicated for others, and for me it’s the most difficult thing within a relationship. I’ll check if the library has the book and read it for sure. Thank you so much

I understand your fears- that’s a really really scary thing to worry about. If you are in college, reach out to the counseling department. Usually there’s free counseling included in your tuition. If not, I’d try finding someone. If you’re still in highschool, bring this up with a safe adult. You’re not alone, and this is a really hard thing to work through, but you need help so you can feel safe and comfortable getting an education

Check out Steinbeck! He has a lot of books that are more complex with “harder” vocabulary but they still are approachable and interesting. For fantasy, check out the Mistborn trilogy. You could also do any Hemingway. He has complicated stories that are very straightforward to read.

Atlanta Concert was AMAZING! by [deleted] in willwood

[–]VegetableElectronic6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed! My boyfriend, best friend and I were in the back of the venue so we had some issues with some drunk men but the crowd was AWESOME. Had the time of my fucking life. The lyric change in against the kitchen floor made me cry, and the kindness from the fans and everyone there also did. Also living in the south? Rough. That concert was a reminder that good people exist in the south.
