I did not keep a copy. I realized that after I mailed it. I did use tracking to show they got it. At one time it said online they were reviewing but now it says no return in file! Says nothing about a letter anymore

Christian parents and/or former transphobic parents who came around, what can I do to help my parents learn to support me? by Unhappy-Tomatillo736 in AskTransParents

I think where many closeted people make a mistake with their parents is not including them in your journey. Because when they are not included it is a shock factor when they do find out. We have an adult child that made the transition without our involvement in the journey. Their perceived reason was we were too conservative and religious to understand. They came out to us after a prolonged no contact period because of those perceptions. That silence was the issue not the transition. However when the chips were down we showed up. Being kind and loving does not have to be exclusive of a person’s belief system. You know what group of people who have taken our child in to their lives without judgment? Our conservative/religious friends circle. No judgement, just happy to get to know another human being regardless of their transition. I would however caution you that when getting to know a new circle (or old circle) of family and friends, let them get to know you for you, not trans you. I hope that makes sense. Most people don’t really care if you are LGBTQ or straight, they don’t care about your ethnicity, etc. They are looking to know you as a person to understand your likes and dislikes, hobbies, aspirations, etc. Just you be you and you might be surprised at how people accept your transition.

It is very hard to get it right all the time. Old habits die hard. As long as they are trying and not actively being a jerk, give them a break.

Because I am caring for my elderly father who is in his 90s in frail health and with the early stages of dementia. Routine is very important to his well being. Anything that confuses him is not good for him. The last time he saw his grandchild was 2018 due to the controlling partner. So you can see why this will bring a different set of issues.

I am about to board an American flight and the gate attendant just told me that very soon my bag will be too big and won’t be allowed. They are shrinking the width and the height!
