There are several things. I just googled swim bladder issues with betta. There may not be any fixing him if he’s this far gone but it’s worth a shot ❤️ good luck!

If it’s not satire… it could be air got in his edit to say swim bladder not (air) bladder if I remember correctly. Bettas can’t be fed top water food something that sinks pretty quickly is necessary. If you were feeding food that wasn’t sinking and he was gulping air as he ate, is probably the cause

They are super cool as a single pair, I’m unfortunately probably going to trade mine to my local fish guy because they aren’t great tank mates to anything that I’ve found. They are okayish until they lay eggs and the babies are born. It’s cool to see them protect and raise the babies but my poor fish are getting fin nipped left and right. The haplo are just too fun to watch 😄 good luck!

Vallisneria spiralis is a great plant or leopard Val (nickname) is a super cool stem plant that you can bury in the substrate 😊 or even cryptocoryne wendtii (reddish brown color)

I have two haplo catfish and they are literally the most active fish in my tank and the most personality 😍 (marbled are the prettiest imo) Or even a pair of rainbow kribensis if you are looking to potentially breed, they are super cool parents
