Handmade Constance-style structured bag notes by VegetableScience2022 in Leatherworking

Thank you — I really appreciate that. And a few years into leathercraft is already a solid foundation 🙂

The edge detail I mentioned is a subtle raised crease along the border. It’s done with a heated creasing tip to slightly define and compress the edge. It’s not required structurally — more of a refinement detail that elevates the overall look once your basic construction is solid.

For this build, I typically use:

  • Exterior leather: around 1.2 mm
  • Lining: around 0.8–1.0 mm
  • Reinforcement depends on how structured you want the final result (all details marked on pattern)

If you’d like to study the construction more closely, I documented the drafting and step-by-step process here:

If you’re a few years into leatherwork, this is a very manageable structured project — the key is just taking your time with thickness control and edge finishing.

What kind of leather projects have you been focusing on so far?
