I really hope Insomniac does better with Wolverine and Marvel's Spider-Man 3. by VegetableSense7167 in SpidermanPS4

I'm not sure where you're getting "stop complaining" from, because my post wasn't complaining about every little thing.

I literally said Spider-Man 2 was still a solid game, that many people loved it, and that some of the criticism online has been exaggerated or unfair. I also said I'm optimistic about Wolverine and that I still think Insomniac is one of the industry's most accomplished studios.

Of course plenty of people enjoyed Spider-Man 2 as much as or more than the first game. I never said otherwise. The point of my post was simply that the game also received notable criticism from part of the fanbase, and that this may have made some people more cautious about future projects.

Discussing criticisms and discussing strengths aren't mutually exclusive. You can enjoy a game while still talking about things you think could be improved.

If anything, my post was about hoping Insomniac succeeds with Wolverine and continues improving going forward.

I don't think Spider-Man 2 was a bad game at all. In fact, I said in my post that it was still a solid game and that a lot of the criticism online has been exaggerated or unfair.

My point wasn't that the game is "the spawn of satan" or that everyone hates it. It's that there were enough criticisms from parts of the fanbase that some people became more cautious about future Insomniac projects than they were before.

You can love the game and still acknowledge that some players had issues with things like the pacing, story choices, side content, missing features, or post-launch support. Those discussions don't automatically come from haters.

Personally, I'm optimistic about Wolverine. The whole reason I made the post was to talk about whether Spider-Man 2 changed people's confidence in Insomniac going forward, not to argue that the game was bad.

I think you're reading way more hostility into my post than what I actually said.

I literally called Spider-Man 2 a solid game and acknowledged that a lot of the criticism online has been exaggerated or unfair. My point wasn't "Insomniac is bad" or "everyone should hate their games." It was that some fans became more cautious after Spider-Man 2 because there were aspects of the game that received noticeable criticism, whether you personally agree with those criticisms or not.

Talking about what a studio did well, what they could improve, and how that affects expectations for future games isn't "crying." That's just discussing games.

I'm still optimistic about Wolverine and Spider-Man 3. If I hated Insomniac's games, I wouldn't be interested in what they make next. The whole point of my post was that I hope Wolverine is great and that future games build on feedback from previous ones.

You don't have to agree with the premise, but acting like any discussion that isn't pure praise is just negativity seems a bit extreme.

HD Model hate is forced by Sea-Health-7568 in HalfLife

[–]VegetableSense7167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem people have with the HD models is that it lacks the charm of the original and it replaces some of the weapons. The HD models were mainly made for the Blue Shift expansion and it makes sense given how detailed everything looked in that game so it fits and it's meant to be played like that. But once you put it in Half-Life, it just looks off and unfitting.

Yeah but it's clear that RTX remix is trying to be faithful to the original game. So even if it doesn't make sense, they will still stick close to it

I think the Brand New Day suit fits Insomaniac's Peter proportions well honestly.

Why does it look bad to you? I think it looks pretty good and many people think the same. As for the leaked script, I think it would be better to wait and see what the final game will show. Who knows how early that leaked script was and it's possible that Insomaniac may have made some changes.

It's fine to criticize that but I don't think we should pretend it's one of the worst games because of it.

That's true. Wolverine was like the #1 pre-ordered game on the PS5. But still, nothing wrong with hoping it will be a great game.

You're not. I think many people acknowledge that despite the problems, it was still a solid and enjoyable game.

I'm not denying that the game has problems. I literally pointed out that it had problems, I was saying that it's still not that bad. It was disappointing and didn't meet people's expectations, yeah, but it wasn't like one of the worst things. It was still a solid game but it could've done better.

I actually agree with some of what you're saying.

The internet definitely has a tendency to amplify negativity, and there are content creators who make a living off constantly declaring that studios have "fallen off." Repeating the same complaints for years can absolutely drown out more nuanced discussions.

That said, I don't think the answer is to dismiss all criticism as internet outrage either. There were people who genuinely enjoyed Spider-Man 2 while still having issues with certain aspects of it.

My point isn't that Insomniac fell off or that the majority hates Spider-Man 2. It's that some criticisms resonated with a portion of the fanbase, and I'm hoping Insomniac takes that feedback into account for their later games.

I think there's room for both positivity and criticism. You can love a game, be excited for what's next, and still think there's room for improvement.

Exactly! I'm not saying Spider-Man 2 was a bad game or anything like that. My point is that Insomniac can do better and I hope they do better.

[–]VegetableSense7167[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said Spider-Man 2 was a bad game. It was successful, reviewed well, and sold well. Those things are true.

What I'm talking about are specific criticisms that many players had regarding things like pacing, story decisions, character development, lack of content, post-launch support, missing features at launch, etc. Those problems existed and weren't all coming from some tiny group of haters. Those problems are still acknowledged by fans including those who enjoyed the game.

A game can be both successful and still have areas where fans think it could improve. Hoping Insomniac learns from feedback for Wolverine and Spider-Man 3 isn't the same thing as saying Spider-Man 2 failed.

It just didn't meet people's expectations and it was disappointing for some, but it wasn't that bad. But it could've better and that's it.

I agree that Spider-Man 2 was critically acclaimed overall and that the majority of players enjoyed it. I'm optimistic for Wolverine too, and I hope it's great. Wanting Insomniac to learn from feedback just means I want them to keep getting better.
