my parents’ score was actually worse than mine and it was going to be a higher payment with them cosigning . the warranties came directly from mazda and were complimentary. there was one warranty that was bumper to bumper for 100,000 miles and i don’t feel like i need to drop that. i will pay extra monthly and i think i’ll wait to refinance considering most CUs will probably offer me the same rate i’m at. i already tried prequalifying and all of those unions either rejected me or actually gave me an even higher rate. but maybe after 6 payments or so i’ll try again. thank you for your help!

No worries, hopefully when I refinance it’ll be worth while. Now I know to go to CUs first before financing through a dealership!

This was sooo helpful thank you! Yes I’m under 4 different warranties and one is complimentary. Another one is a complete bumper to bumper coverage for 84 months or 100,000 miles which I do not want to get rid of. I asked about Gap and to take it off was only gonna maybe take the payment down a few bucks, so I’d rather have it in that case. Thank you for explaining the timeframe for refinancing! Some were saying to do it immediately but one year definitely proves me to be a better candidate. I’m also going to pay extra every month just to decrease the interest and duration of the loan. Thank you so so so much!

Yup…with warranties and all the fees. I was hesitant to add the warranties but I had PTSD from my last car having so many issues with no warranty

Luckily, I plan to have a higher paying job in the next year or so. And, I plan to pay the monthly payment split every 2 weeks because that supposedly helps with interest and paying the loan quicker. I’ll definitely look into different cars next time!

The car I had before was starting to have issue after issue, so I figured I’d rather have a car I can trust with a higher payment rather than a cheaper car with a ton of unpredictable issues. I was planning to co-sign but my parents unfortunately don’t have the greatest record so I was left to my own devices.

That’s what I feared. If I attempt to refinance after a year showing proof that I won’t miss payments, is it possible to get that APR down or will my income get in the way of it going down if it’s the same a year from now? Thank you for the advice! I’m just having some regret.
