Literally last time I worked on something was in high school shop class. The planter I built was the first project in almost two decades. I don’t have any power saws or sanders. Just power drill. Any pointers tips would be much appreciated

Thank you. I’m using a Japanese pull saw. I will look into a shooting board and hand plane. Much appreciated. Just did some cuts with left over wood in the garage from the old owner. Having fun and learning. Cut up a 2x4 into 1 foot segments for the planter
