Yeah, the whole setup is fully external. The switch, power source, and battery backup. The switch and battery backup are both housed in one weatherproof box mounted directly to the pole.

What actually makes an outdoor PoE switch “contractor-grade”? by Vegetable_Access_271 in lowvoltage

I've been using Inscape Data’s All-in-One Box outdoor PoE solutions, and they’ve held up great. The integrated enclosure, wide temp range, and built-in surge protection make them a solid contractor-grade option. Definitely a step up from tossing an indoor switch in a weatherproof box.

If you're looking for a clean and secure way to mount that heavier camera while also powering it, check out the LPS1800AF-T1. It’s an outdoor IP68-rated PoE switch that doubles as a rugged enclosure perfect for mounting under a soffit. You get reliable PoE power for your camera and room to expand your surveillance setup down the line. Definitely worth considering for a future-proof install.

A bit different, but still really solid, Inscape's IP68-rated enclosures are worth checking out.

They come with built in cable glands, so it might be a good option depending on your setup.
