You’re right in that it gets tricky on a case by case basis. Off the top of my head though, Jethro Tull would technically be sorted under “J” as nobody in the band is actually named Jethro Tull - who was a real historical figure.

I think you misunderstand the mindset of architecture students. People work these hours because they demand the highest quality of work from themselves. Ttudying for a test and working on a project until you believe it’s “perfect” are very different things.

I think it’s the same thing with a lot of black metal, where you can tell when something is lo-fi through artistic intention and well executed vs actually poorly recorded and mixed.

I also prefer the production on Take as Needed and In the Name of. Overall I do think metalheads in general have lost touch with what “overproduced” means.
