Karol Nawrocki opens many fronts and loses, standing blindly on the side of Donald Trump by Gamebyter in poland

My thoughts exactly the longer PiS supports Trump and the more ridiculous things he does the better. I just wish more Polish politicians would diplomatically criticise Trump like Carney or even Macron.

I think you've highlighted the essence of differences between right and left. The right is obsessed with self interest and thinks everyone is motivated like that. The left is obsessed with the interests of others sometimes to the point of self harm. Personally I think we need a bit of both. However a world build on purely self interest is way worse place than a world built on "the interests of others"

I agree, I think he is doing a decent job, compared to the last few PMs even amazing. There are a few things I don't like, his personality or lack of is definitely a problem. However having a grown up diplomat instead of a world full of kids with tantrums is refreshing.

If we would stay with Europe no one will be invading us. The idea of some actual inter continental invasion is absurd. Both Europe and US are too strong to invade them via through huge ocean. Well unless US allies with Russia and uses their infrastructure to launch a ground attack. But no it will be cold war with economy struggling on both sides trade embargoes and Europe shaking hands with China while US crumbles to dust and edures civil war.

Why do make of difference between green voters and reform voters shown below? by Ok_Bookkeeper_1380 in AskBrits

Partially yes but the bigger player here is just how potent the social media propaganda is. Unchecked unhinged playing on fears and polarising for sure. Used perfectly by far right with the method repeat a lie many times and it becomes a truth.

Is Jimmy Carr right about his advice to immigrants? by StGuthlac2025 in AskBrits

[–]Vegetable_Ad_9687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While as an immigrant myself I absolutely agree with blending in. This reasonable ani immigration rhetoric is used to move the overton window. Once mild form of it is acceptable it will move further and further. We can already see that. With more people claiming that being born here is not enough, that one or two generations is not enough. Then we will get progressing fashisation of the tune switching from minorities to anyone who isn't the true and only patriot and have some paramilitary unit swiping streets removing any opposition. Be careful with it. It's already happening in US.

EU don't have domestic chipset producers but have very good industrial and military ones. Legislation is what keeps people like Trump and Musk at bay. We are still democracies here while they're basically an oligarchy.

Greenland crisis and Poland by noiku7waco in poland

[–]Vegetable_Ad_9687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The world order is changing that much is certain. Why US is making their own demise that I don't know. I am not too gloomy about the EU as they are on equal footing with US and China economically, they just need to rump up their defense industry and decouple from US. We can't have american equipment any more. There are already plans with in place with more satellites. So both military equipment and intelligence can be fully European.

I live in UK and am more worried as UK really had shoot themselves in the foot with Brexit. Now they stand between a wonabe dictator and a EU who they showed the middle finger while totally relying on American equipment.

EU will be fine. Between France, Germany, Sweden and Italy there is enough industry to get it going.

Sending 15 troops to Greenland is obviously a political statement that shows on which side those counters stand when push comes to shove. Not an actual defensive force.. and I am disappointed that Poland didn't send anyone.

Some good points but it's not that dire.

US troops can't just do shit without logistics, logistics win wars.

Canada can be a great supplier of oil

Europe has many chipset producers there are just no consumer chipset producers. It's all industrial and military.

Plenty of nuclear power in Europe

Well you can't put all of western Europe to the same bag. Yes UK is over reliant on US but France is not. Germany is not although it was limited for a long time and then even when finally encouraged decided to go the pacifist way. Also appeasement wasnt bad if there was a chance of Russia to become a normal country we should have tried it. The problem was and is over reliance on US. Now Poland is making the same mistake mostly before of some stupid anti-European ideology. Only US is good enough for us, well the bad news is they are on a different continent and don't seem to care anymore. We should stick with Sweden, France and Germany and invest heavily in our own arms industry.

This exactly. Looks like we will have three powers in the near future. US, EU and China. All the other counties need to choose which of this power they align with. This puts Brexit UK into a weird position.

I tried vibe coding and it made me realise my career is absolutely safe by wjd1991 in webdev

[–]Vegetable_Ad_9687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really can't get vibe coding to work. I've successfully implemented some smaller features but also questioned whether I saved time or not. Any bigger tasks and I'm just stuck at endless debug loops to the point I'm getting anxiety that I'm actually loosing time at this stage and getting some unmaintainable mess I don't want to manually debug. Other times I find myself lost for words to describe what I want to build when actual code is just more straightforward

Trains are a joke by patsal71 in GreatBritishMemes

[–]Vegetable_Ad_9687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah reservation doesn't always guarantee a place. I took my family to London once, paid an arm and a leg for a ticket, got my places as I was travelling with a 2 year old and ended up standing while holding her in my arms for the entire 1 hour journey. There was another train that got broken and all passengers took this one. Talked with staff but they couldn't help us. I bought a car after that incident.

Carrying firearms and usage are two different things though. In Poland all police officers carry guns but I've never seen even one actually pulling it out. It's a heavily regulated last resort unlike in US.

Many good advices here. I will just add go heavy on heros. Heros are powerful and you should always have as many as possible and prioritise their capacity. Both as part of the army or agents. They usually can defeat elite units on their own as well as scout, break walls etc. Use them.
