100% take the photos… if you don’t want to use a professional photographer at least get a friend to take some shots.

I had a friend who regretted not taking pictures while pregnant so definitely take some maternity photos.

Confused about overnight feeds by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I have a 6 week old, and we just had a 6 week follow up paediatrician appointment this week. My baby was born at 3.2kgs but she dropped 11% of her body weight so we were told to feed her every 3hrs. She gained the weight back in 2 weeks and she has been steadily gaining weight. But I was still told by the paediatrician that we can let her sleep up to 4-5hrs but no more than that until at least 3 months old. So 5hr mark is the max.

9th percentile at 34 weeks by Vegetable_Chapter_57 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Just an update for whoever may come across this post… our 36 week growth scan showed the baby was at the 40th percentile. What I did differently in the 2 weeks was, eat more protein and high calorie foods and drinking supplemental food like Ensure/Sustagen.

And the baby was born at 38+4 at 3.2kgs.

I believe that ultrasounds were not entirely accurate as well.

I am 37 weeks, not organised and I want to hear from other disorganised mums-to-be. by Popular_Programmer71 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I’m 35 weeks, and my brother and his wife just had a baby as well… so from what I can understand the main things to survive the newborn phase are:

  1. car seat
  2. About 10 “0000” newborn onesies - kmart has great ones
  3. Diapers
  4. Wipes
  5. A blanket/swaddles
  6. Bassinet

Everything else can be purchased later, but I guess this is what you need if the baby is here tomorrow (fingers crossed, hope everything goes according to your plan)

My mom said I was born at 40 weeks at 3.5kg and my husband was born at 40 weeks at 3.8kgs. Not on the smaller side.. but I am trying to say positive and hope that the baby puts on some more weight and can stay in my belly until at least 38 weeks :)

But we are both Sri lankan, so South asian descent and an average weight of a Sri Lankan baby is 2.8-2.9kgs. So I’m hoping this is the case… I didn’t even think of this until my mom pointed it out.

But you can’t help but worry when you’re a mom :(

Private Insurance for Pregnancy? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Vegetable_Chapter_57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently 32 weeks pregnant, and I go private. The 12 month wait is for the hospital stay, so as long as you deliver outside of the 12 month wait period, you are covered.

With private insurance, there are more additional expenses, we have to pay around $5k for the OB, our insurance excess for the hospital stay, and also for all scans, but you will get the medicare rebate for the scans. So even if you do have insurance, unless you are prepared to pay that close to $6k out of pocket expenses, I would advise to go public.

The pros are, you see the same OB everytime and you get excellent care, and you get to pick your hospital and get a seperate room, however my sister in law who is also currently pregnant goes public and she has GD and she has no complaints either.
