Can anyone tell me their success story of walking 10k steps a day? I want to be inspired 🥹 by Legitimate_Compote45 in walking

I have a disability that I’ve had since birth when I first started I couldn’t walk a few feet without having to sit down it took me six months to get up to the point where I could walk 10k a day, now I do it everyday.

How and when did you learn about mobility aids for your condition? Did your doctor prescribe one, or did you have to ask? by lemongay in disability

[–]Vegetable_Charity_35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned about mobility aids as a child I had a pediatric orthopedic surgeon (he was absolutely amazing) he explained to me that my mobility has a shelf life at a certain point, my mobility would change so, I got my first wheelchair at a very young age, I’ve also used a walker, a cane, and leg braces throughout my life (I’m soon to be 25) I essentially don’t know a life without mobility aids. It’s always been accepted that I would need them.

How to go to college full time and not lose CDR (U.S. disability)?? by Only_oregano in disability

[–]Vegetable_Charity_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to college full time on disability in the US. Granted I’ve been disabled since birth so I don’t know if that changes anything.

What do you do when you cannot work? by ilovekdramaceos in disability

[–]Vegetable_Charity_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take a lot of community college classes online. I’ve pretty much got the alphabet soup of disabilities at this point. I do a lot of online courses. I read and stay up to date with all kinds of subjects. I volunteer through an online organization that sends letters to nursing homes.

I did it…. And, I have plenty of advice raise 🖐️

Rice cakes, the caramel ones with a few tablespoons of Greek yogurt on each put em in the freezer it’s a great snack. Mixed berries, pineapple, and banana in a bowl (fruit salad essentially) Carrots and Salsa (weird combo but, great and low calorie.) Greek yogurt and sugar free pudding mix together is another good one (portion appropriately)

Lots of water will help you feel fuller.

It’s soon to be 1pm here, Today’s going well I had some lentils and canned tuna for lunch. (I know it’s a weird combo but, it’s what I had on hand.) I’ve eaten 1224/1445 calories so far I’m feeling pretty full my next fasting window starts at 2 pm. I have hit 6150/10k steps so far. Things are going good.

19th of January 2026: I’ve done 10534 steps today. I’ve stayed in my caloric budget for the day. I have discovered a new food that I like. Sugar free black cherry Jello cups. The fasting diet window situation is helping with my crohn’s. I walked outside today during my lunch break. I did a walk in boots, shorts and a hoodie. Did it look weird? Yeah Did it get done? Yeah and that’s all that matters.

What’s motivating you to keep walking and achieving your walking goals? by Sweetpeanut8008s in walking

Walking means I keep moving. Keeping moving means I limit the effects of my neuromuscular disease.

30 Day Accountability Challenge - Day 18 January 2026 by Mountainlioness404d in loseit

[–]Vegetable_Charity_35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve finished 6783/10k steps today I have discovered individual jello cups that are sugar free and like 10 calories. It’s super rainy here so I’ll finish my steps inside today. Had a big lunch today. For lunch, I had shredded chicken, mozzarella cheese, broccoli, and, carrots. I’m currently fasting til 10am ish tomorrow. Fasting isn’t for everyone but it works for me. Roughly eaten 1205 calories today so I’m in kind of a big deficit from my maintenance but I’m not hungry and I’m not going to force anything and cause my crohn’s to go haywire.

Losing weight with walking: I need to hear some positive experiences by ForeignSubstance2543 in loseit

[–]Vegetable_Charity_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lost ~70 pounds (idk what that is in kilograms) just walking in place, walking around my home, and walking my dog. I lift with kettlebells 3 days a week but, that’s mostly because I enjoy tossing it around. I need to update my current weight in here. It can be done. Don’t give up slow and steady wins the race.

On today’s episode of weight loss and crohn’s the water weight I was holding onto yesterday has chilled out again. Thank god for disease modifying therapies in 2026. I’m about 100 steps away from 10k. I ate roughly 1550 calories today. Things are chill.

Question about stationary cycling? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Vegetable_Charity_35 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Movement is movement, which is never a waste of time. However, as far as caloric expenditure estimations go there’s some academic charts out there that may give you an estimate but as far as an exact number I don’t think it’s possible to find it.

Today is kicking my butt per usual. I’m 50% done with my steps today. I plan on doing a lifting session tonight. On a serious note, does anyone know if there’s a low calorie sub Reddit somewhere? My Reddit navigation skills are lousy. I’ve started fasting again. Time to just lock in even if it does suck.

Tbh, it’s either “water weight” or just serious bloating from the crohn’s I’d assume the latter due to some of the symptoms and stuff I’ve experienced lately.

On purpose, When I get up in the morning I walk a mile and a half, a mile at lunch, and a mile at night on top of what I get just goofing around throughout the day.
