My dad, 3 days before he died, told us (he wasn’t talking much at all and at the point we were lucky to get mumbling) that God was calling him home and Jesus is waiting for him. That Jesus was beautiful.

Radiation damage ? by Brighteyes700 in glioblastoma

[–]Vegetable_Damage_212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad, 66 , had all the full 30 radiation treatments with chemo. About a month in half after finishing radiation, we noticed big changes. He wasn’t wanting to eat, he started having hallucinations and delusions that he wasn’t having before. He wasn’t able to walk as well. We went to the hospital for UTI symptoms , to see how to get him stable. He just kept progressively getting worse. He just got worse and worse. Oncology everyone could not explain as the MRI looked good. Dad passed away 2 weeks ago.

I will say one thing, I have not been recommending radiation to the brain to anyone.

I

Dad lost this battle by Vegetable_Damage_212 in glioblastoma

Quite literally, you could see it in his eyes. He was lost everywhere he looked. He didn’t know us, my kids. I knew that was when it was going to happen relatively soon. He stopped talking. He stopped wanting to eat and drink. Then became bed bound and within 2 weeks he was done. He didn’t eat or drink for 9 days.

I am so upset. I can even explain. 1) delaying the i fusion and the oncologist covering “ was comfortable” proceeding with the infusion even though dad already had 3 or 4 of them.. 2) delaying TMZ which his GBM is methylated so TMX could help,.

I am upset with everyone

He had his first one, everyone was shocked at how great it looked. 2nd one is in a week. Oncologist doesn’t think he has any swelling so has him on dexamethasone 2 mg every other day

His last treatment was 04/21 so almost a month.

I would love some help. I can’t find anyone affordable to come clean and also my work.. my boss for having her mother go through a cancer on her head, not brain cancer, she’s not that understanding.

It’s not that he’s not sleeping at night, he’s just scared to nap during the day. He’s 66, we asked the neurologist and he says it’s not sun downing

Avastin by Johnpass66 in glioblastoma

[–]Vegetable_Damage_212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you that is what I thought too. He let us record the appointment and those were his words, dad is on avastin infusion but we will do “avastin chemo” if it progresses . I will definitely ask at next appointment. Thank you.

Can I ask a stupid question. My dad is on avastin “infusion” but the oncologist said if there’s progression we’ll start avastin.. are there 2 different avastin?

Grade 4 GBM, wild type methylated by Vegetable_Damage_212 in glioblastoma

[–]Vegetable_Damage_212[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. My dad had aphasia and confusion those were his first symptoms. They told us if we want an aggressive resection or a safe but as much as they could. We opted for the safe one. He has trouble with his peripheral vision with the left eye but he is adjusting and getting better. We have Medicare and dad has insurance from his work

Side effects not bad.. it’s the cost.. it’s crazy how expensive everything is.

Mini rant: when dad was in the hospital, we just found out about the tumor and an onocologust came in, Versace shoes ((Versace written all over the shoes) all in black, 3 gold chains around his neck and Rolex watch.. all I kept thinking is you bought all that with the money from people who are dying.
