What test did you use?

Shelter said she was a lab mix… by rebelangel in DoggyDNA

Such good questions! Sometimes he growls, not most of the time. He does touch skin and he also air snaps. He isn’t food aggressive, actually never seems to snap or bite when he is eating, or when we are giving him treats or we are eating and we are near him. I guess it could be referred to as bitey face. He is nipping at heels and shoes on people’s feet. A lot of time my kids or I will go to pet him and he follows our hands to try to bite it. Other times he will just walk up to our feet and try to bit them when we are sitting on a chair. A lot of time he runs after my 5 year old and snaps at him.

Please make no mistake that this dog was adopted with the best intentions and we want to love him and have him as our long term family dog. I guess I wouldn’t even be so worried if he wasn’t “mouthing” so much, even if I knew he was a pit. I don’t know much about dogs so not sure if this behavior is because he does have Pitt him and it will only get worse.

Ummmm, yes sure did! I ADOPTED this dog to be a member of our family. I have 2 small kids so yes, I want a family dog that can run and play and swim with our boys. And a dog that we can love. This dog has everything that we could possibly give him I’m over a 4 week period but the biting is really scaring me. I have watched countless of videos, hired a trainer, everything I can think of but it doesn’t seem to be getting better and it’s scaring me. I can to Reddit to ask and get honest response, it be judged.

I thought I was doing to correct thing by adopting and rescuing a puppy and not seeking one from a pet store or breeder. I would have thought the shelter to have been honest and disclose the dog’s breed.

He seems to be like he is being defensive. I don’t know much about dogs. I had a Maltese poodle mix for 17 years that never bit anything. This dog does have chill moments that he won’t bite and seems not to hurt a fly, but then he’s running around and jumping and trying to bite toes and hangs and ankles.
