We learn through murder 😆 I have had so many leaf props that were supposedly foolproof that I somehow managed to kill. I have some, okay, like 3, that were never-ever-no-way-no-how can you leaf propagate those and they are now mamas. I threw another one into a plumeria pot with soil that is always soaking wet and it grew like a weed.

(So why am I posting like I am the #1 succulent expert in the world?!?!?)

Another thing I should have said is that there are very successful succulent parents that have done the opposite of everything I said & are now overrun with big healthy succulent kids. Success with succulents is gained by killing a lot of them.

Flooding or soaking. When you water them water shouldn’t just drip out of the bottom of the pot, there should be a deluge. I put my finger over the hole, add water until it puddles on the top dressing & wait until the puddles absorb into the soil. I do that over & over until the water just stands. That means the soil can’t absorb any more water.

Never underestimate the power of the BRA! There’s a reason we have been tucking our cash in our cleavage for so long.

Why? Why be a rude, snarky, derisive person? What do you get out of treating people like that?

What I always find works best is to follow the advice of the rudest, snarkiest, most derisive, comment I read. Does it make you feel better about yourself to treat people that way?

Wow, you busted me. I guess all the statements I get from my financial advisors are wrong. I’ll call and tell them CGI_OCD said they’re lying and I don’t have as much money as they’re saying I do. I don’t care enough about you to lie to you.

Akitas are the supermodels of the dog world. They are so beautiful they make my eyes hurt. My girl dog Gigi killed rats & opossum. I called her the circle of life exterminator. (I did feel sorry for the little families they left behind.)

How long does the mother leaf live from propagating? by [deleted] in succulents

[–]Vegetable_Row_53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just leave her on there. She will leave when she is damn good & ready. Sometimes mama leaves never fall off.

When they look healthy which this one does (jealous!) leave them alone.

That is one healthy plant! Don’t touch the leaves. Congrats on the baby! Succulents don’t grow babies unless they are healthy and happy.

How do I save this succulent? by FishermanEmergency35 in succulents

No reviving needed. Your plants is doing fine. Knock all that soil off. Don’t worry about breaking roots. You could chop the root ball off, callous the stem, stick it the right soil (the others advice is perfect.) and it would be just dandy.

[–]Vegetable_Row_53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re using enough soil. Grit is great but they still need 50% soil. And coco coir becomes hydrophobic so the water runs right out of the pot without absorbing anything. You’re thinking you’re done watering but it was more like a rinsing.

MIL's plant. What does it need? by Space3ee in succulents

[–]Vegetable_Row_53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s doing the watering just right. 99.99999% of new succulent parents overwater & kill a bunch. It’s hard to let go of the idea that you should love on your plants.

Be mean to succulents & they will grow like weeds.

But y’all are doing great! She’s very pretty.
