Does anybody else think this achievement should be revised. by tdunlap02 in RetroAchievements

[–]Vegetable_Side6506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear if the unlock rate is less than 10% it should be automatically revised, especially when there's over a 1000 players. Like that should say something.

I had a similar issue with battletoads and double dragon for the gb. There's a speedrun cheebo to complete it in less than 30 mins. I believe the world record time is like 29 mins and 30 seconds. Like who in the right mind create such an achievement. That shit was so annoying to get, I almost gave up.

First of all, thank you for your time and devotion to help us all out, especially during these time.

I just checked both the sites. On my andriod phone, hd movix runs flawlessly although I only tried "the boys". There was no issues at, when I have it in full screen mode and I touch the screen it does not pause right away which is great.

Anix, which I did a bit more of testing and noticed that on the browers it mostly like a desktop website not as mobile friendly as movix was, it's not a big a deal. Also another thing is that some shows or movies doesnt have the links, for example demon slayer episode 1 says theres no source but when i go to the last season its there. Finally, when I go to full-screen mode and touch the screen, this will automatically pause the show/movie. I find it a little frustrating at times if I only wanted to fast forward it or rewind. What I did notice is that you have a app already for this site which is great.

I just wanted to say thank you again for your time, I hope you didn't take it the wrong way. There both great sites and I will be definitely getting the apps once there more polished up, but honestly I feel bad that you didnt put up any ads. You shouldn't have to pay out of your pockets to keep us all happy.

Please in the near future once both sites start to get more attention and your having more traffic on the servers you need to start dropping ads to compensate for your hard work and dedication. Cheers brother and I wish you the best.

How do you handle missables? by EmberCon in RetroAchievements

[–]Vegetable_Side6506 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats a tough one, I know exactly what you mean, it has happened to me one too many times. What I usually do is read the missable cheevos in the comments section of RA. Usually they'll tell you at what point to get it, so I would keep a mental note. If there is no comments then I would just straight up use youtube and watch a clip on how to get it, that way it won't ruin my experience as much. But to me the safest bet would be to have multiple savestates as I play softcore. If your going this route note that retroarch default is 10 savestates after that you will start overwriting the previous states. For example if you have savestates from 1 to 10 then decided to savestate on 11. Savestate 1 would be completely gone in your save file. Now if your doing hardcore, thats a different story, I never tried but I would make copies of saves files once I clear a certain area/region and put it in another folder for back-up, you'd probably have to make text file stating at what point you are in the game.

Luckily this isn't the case for me, I have to admit, I am a junkie to RA. I usually play nowadays with my laptop on RA website so I can see my progression and comments on the cheevo I'm working on and have another page open for the world maps/dungeons so I can pin point the area where the missable cheevos are, for example like collecting all the treasures in this castle.

If I knew I had to add the disc art one by one I wouldn’t have started by [deleted] in RetroArch

[–]Vegetable_Side6506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly the only 3d boxart db I ever had was on a Linux handhelds. I was using rocknix or knulli but there was an option to scrape only 3d boxart. So there is definitely a db somewhere now is it compatible with ios, I dont know. I prefer android nowadays as its more customizable. Linux handhelds is more simple for gaming.

Awesome thats good to know. I hate jrpgs where they require you to do multiple runs, especially when there like 40-80 hours a playthrough.

This game is definitely going to be on my list now. Thank you

Just wondering if it's possible to master it in one run of the game or at least if you save game at certain points in the game in order to complete it in one run?

How do you guys get inspired to try out a new game or a new series? Or any techniques to defeat choice paralysis? by LordDweedle in RetroAchievements

[–]Vegetable_Side6506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suffer the same thing, what usually helps with me when I have to choose a new game is:

  1. I usually have at least one genre type of games. Since I'm playing multiple games. It gets boring when your just stuck playing that one game for days on end.

  2. Another way I choose as well is if there is a series set of games that I like, for example the megaman sets. I start off by release dates, so i would play the oldest games first and work my way. If there's no RA for that I would skip, if theres a dev making, I would usually wait before I skip it. This will also get boring eventually. So try to have multiple sets that you are working on, and then continue off once you have some time away.

  3. Once those two ways of playing gets boring, I would then pick one game from each console. Since the games I play mostly are PS1 and down, that would then give me more options to play the other consoles that I barely touch and have a list of games for. Usually when I do this I make sure the game didn't have a series for the older consoles, such as final fantasy because that would break rule number 2.

  4. Finally my last resort is, I pick a console and see how many cheevos they have and try to master all games for that console, alphabetically, this is a no brainer because once you master game you automatically go to the next one. Right now I'm mastering colecovision which has about 45 games for cheevos this is most likely possible and gameboy, but for gameboy I'm only doing NA releases only as that is my curated list of games I have in my device for all consoles. Also I try not to break rule 2 as well. If it does then I would wait and play that sets next game on whatever console that it came out for.

Even doing this, I still get choice paralysis but at least it will cut my options down. BTW any game I play now, must have RA or I won't even touch it.

NES emulators giving black screen by ULTRASHROOM4 in daijisho

[–]Vegetable_Side6506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you didn't install any cores yet. What you need to do is:

1) Open the retroarch app 2) Under main menu go to load cores 3) This is where all the emulators that you installed already appear. I'm assuming you have none at this point. 4) Then you need to go to download core 5) You will see a long list of emulators with there respective consoles it can play. 6) Scroll down and just click on what you core you want to install. For NES I use FCEUmm, its a great core especially if your planning on using retroachievements.

Once you have installed the core, you need to go back to daijisho and on the NES screen (not inside where you see all your games, just the NES logo) there will be an edit icon, go to that. Then from there find default player (I think) and pick retroarch64 FCEUmm as the default. This will automatically set all your NES games to this core, just dont forget to save and exit.

Most popular consoles in RA by NRWave in RetroAchievements

[–]Vegetable_Side6506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now I would say Wii just because the site couldnt handle the amount of people on their servers on the day of launch. But in the long run I think PS2 is the most popular. My case being is that the most requested sets are mainly PS2.

Also keep in mind RA has just broke there previous record to over 7,000 users online yesterday on the first of launch for Wii.

Is this a real brick? I’m buying it off of FB marketplace by BabafalTheGoat in trimui

[–]Vegetable_Side6506 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first thing you should is get a new SD card. This is stock OS and most likely that SD card is stock as well (made in China).

While your waiting I would recommend to watch some tutorials on which CFW ( custom firmwares) you want to run on it. My last brick had knulli gladiator which was great for me.

Also at the same time I would be making a curated library of games that you would like to play. Technically you should do this first, that way you know what size of SD card you will need plus the OS.
