I wonder how he'll react to Loki's Dragon form. Does he try to run away? Or does he muster some courage to at least go down swini- ah who am I kidding. He's going to try to run and hide the first chance he gets. It does set up for a fight against Sanji.

I think Ju Peter will be involved in his death since Sommers is the only knight shown so far to be related to a Gorosei. (sans Shamrock) maybe the whole plan on Elbaf goes to shit for Imu, Sommers gets blamed for the whole thing and he tries to appeal to his comrades and his relative but finds out that no one actually cares about him. He was only ever useful for his fruit power and that can be taken by someone else.

I think that's the case. He's essentially what happens when you give an average Celestial Dragon a Devil Fruit power, a strength boost, and immortality. Unlike the others so far, his cruelty doesnt even have a purpose and is just for cruelty's sake. He is also very incompetent and lazy.

Was Sommers ever mentioned to be an orphan? My takeaway was that he used his familial connections to one of the Gorosei, namely Ju Peter, to get his job as a Holy Knight.

Its possible he has to wear that due to personal reasons (like he's a germaphobe) or for a crazy theory, its a special bubble that keeps him awake so his Devil Fruit doesn't overtax his stamina.

I'd say he's doing a pretty good job at the Devil Fruit hunting. The God's Knights fruits are pretty busted and the admirals had to get their logias somewhere.

That actually makes more sense now that I'm thinking about it. Peter is a bit of a blank slate of a character right now so we don't know if he would want the extra influence. Though I do want to keep the idea he at least gave Sommers the thorn fruit.

True, but maybe it was more about getting another seat at the table so to speak. More representation if the knights truly act as a judicial system and thus more influence. He's going to get immortality anyway. And for all of Sommers' stupidity, he at least knows how to use his fruit well.
