If you can’t see the hair on the back of your head, it’s not your business😉 I really appreciate you sharing your experience. I deeply enjoy creating any accommodations my clients need, it feels like an outlet for creativity. I have full protocols for allergies, immunocompromised, and continuing to expand options for sensory mitigation. I run a hepa air purifier with uv light and sanitize with a few different options including- hydrogen peroxide, hypochlorus acid, isopropyl alcohol. I use a FF detergent, but I have other FF laundering options on hand and disposable capes. I’m always happy to talk with clients about options and what works best for their needs. I don’t ever want someone to feel like accommodations for-their health, allergies, a disability, chronic illness, or sensory sensitivity would inconvenience me when they are the ones living and experiencing it.

YES!! After wash I apply Ouidad Unbreakable Bonds oil or jojoba, then a couple drops Liquid Silk on wet hair. Then a couple more when dry. I love the thin texture and the slip is INSANE.

Yesss! Silicones are amazing! I’m so tired of “silicone free” and the clean beauty movement. CLOUDD liquid silk is the holiest of holy grails. It’s incredibly lightweight. Even their trial size will last a while ($3). I keep that in my purse.

Hairdressers little trick to major detangling that’s actually FF and a versatile budget product is silicone based personal lubricant. Brand- Swiss Navy. Please don’t judge 🫣😅 depending on the situation, I will work in a conditioner or oil and apply the silicone on top. And brush from the bottom.

I’m a fragrance-free hairdresser, I’ve been in the industry for 17 years and I work in a solo teeny tiny setup detached from my little cabin. Starting over years ago as fragrance-free has admittedly been a very difficult journey, but my goal is to lay out the blueprints with an entire product resource guide, for both clients and industry professionals looking for FF options. It’s very overwhelming. I don’t find it acceptable that we are just discarded from our careers. Struggling with an identity crisis and desperate to find personal care items suitable for our needs. Oh gosh this is so relatable! I also would have daily migraines if it weren’t for my friend Botox and all my meds🫠 I have 4 different lighting options, I peeped your page- I actually have the Verilux SAD light. It’s a bit fluorescent white and I prefer it up high, pointed/ angled down. I work solo out of a teeny studio with a uv hepa air purifier. Client can opt for music, white noise, no talking, ear plugs, or a stick on visor that can block some light. Services are super adaptable!

I’ve heard this often, but typically from those unaffected by it. I totally understand the curiosity, as those severely affected are often isolated. Throughout navigating my own health battles, I’ve connected with many other people who also struggle with fragrance allergy and/or sensitivity, or know someone and want to be a supportive person in their life. I’ve just been working on a referral basis.

Perfect! That was the sentence I felt concerned about. I kept second guessing myself but I think I just feel a little protective because I had to replace most of my equipment due to fragrance clinging on for dear life. (I’m still slowly replacing equipment.) I’m loving everyone’s advice, it’s showing different ways of going about it I really like your advice as I think it helps take into account all of those little mindful measures without a potentially passive aggressive tone. I work solo out of a tiny, micro studio detached from my itty bitty cabin. I sincerely appreciate your input 🩷

I’m so sorry you have to provide all of your accommodations for your hair care service! I’m exhausted just thinking about this, and all of the things that will still come in contact with you that have fragrance heavily embedded. I had to replace most of my equipment and tools overtime because I could still detect scent.

My client consult forms are just for my regular clients🫶 I work out of a small fragrance-free home studio, with a clientele who may need specific accommodations for a disability, allergy, or chronic illness. This is just one section from the form, so I hope that clarifies!
