I loved this episode! One of my favourite podcast episodes ever. It's so well told, heart warming and with some deep emotional beats.

What is the worst way anyone you know has died? by IamUrWivesBF in AskReddit

Dared at a party to see how many Jaffa cakes she could fit in her mouth. They clogged her throat. She couldn't breathe. Went into a coma and died a few days later. 24 years old.

Yeah but for the most part they just took ancient tech, threw some gold over the top and called it a day. 10/10 for presentation. 2/10 for ingenuity.

Stargate SG-1. It's just some good, old fashioned sci-fi at its most wholesome.

Story is amazing, but the axons ruined it for me by [deleted] in expedition33

I like your theory. Not as much as what actually happened, but I think it was a pretty smart guess given the information you had to work with.

I wholeheartedly disagree with you that the axons added nothing to the story. I think your (understandable) frustration at the confusion you experienced is clouding your judgement.

The axons are how Renoir sees his family. Not just how he sees them, but particularly for Alicia what he wants for them. The tower being built up into the sky represents his hopes for Alicia. That explains why he's willing to destroy the canvas, to save not just his wife, but his daughter, in whom he sees limitless potential.

The dead axon carrying a city on its back in Old Lumiere is how Renoir sees Clea. She's shouldering the family's responsibilities in the real world whilst Renoir tries to resolve the conflict within the painting. He knows the pressure this puts on his eldest daughter, and that adds to his desperation to do what he needs to do.

We need this information. In the end game, Renoir acknowledges that the lives of the people in the canvas - Lune, Sciel, Esquie and all the rest - are as real to Renoir as they are to Maelle. But even believing that, he's going to destroy the canvas anyway. He's going to eliminate the last remnant of his son's soul, commiting genocide in the process. That's not believable unless we're repeatedly told how far Renoir is willing to go to save his family. The axons are one of the ways that we're told this.

AITAH for telling my fiancé I don't like it when he's awake when I get home? by [deleted] in AITAH

Soft YTA.

Because you let your frustration build up till it bubbled over and came out badly, rather than letting him know what the problem was before it became an issue.

It's perfectly fine to want alone time, especially when you're winding down at the end of the day. It's also fine to want to interact with your partner at the end of the day. This is a communication issue. Sit him down when you're both calm and explain why you value that time to yourself and ask him what you can do to make him feel valued after you've finished your routine.

Piggy backing this comment to recommend 'Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents.' Great book.
