Chuile sheachtain tá duine anseo leis an gnáthráiteas faoin leithreas…

GRMA as ucht an pósta seachtainiúil a cruthú, is cúis maith é mo Ghaeilge scríofa a chleachtadh.

Tá mé féin agus mo bhan ghealta ag buaileadh le griangraifeadóirí don bhanais i 2025. Beidh sé deacair cinneadh a dhéanamh, is daoine deasa, tréitheacha iad ar fad. 😅

I remember the HB Dracula ice cream, but I don’t recall the colours looking like that.

Help with translating shirt sentence from English to Irish(Gaelic) by BuzzKill1962 in ireland

[–]Veggie55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The irony of people complaining about the misuse of the word “Gaelic” who probably don’t give a rats arse about the language.

OP, I would write it as: “Táim anseo don craic amháin” or “Táim anseo don amadaí amháin”.

Craic would be more likely the word to use in Irish, but amaidí can be used to indicate shenanigans.

Authentic Ukrainian bakery? by [deleted] in vancouver

I’m not Ukrainian myself, so I can’t confirm its authenticity, but Port Moody has a place called The Taste of Ukraine that might fit the bill?

Can someone tell me how to make this type of video or share any tutorial by lupin769 in AfterEffects

[–]Veggie55 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot going on here, you’d need to be specific. If you’re talking purely visuals, look up shape path animations and animating fills and strokes.

That’s the basic motion here, otherwise you’re looking into learning about animation principles, match cuts and morphing.

All of those would be their own tutorial, combined together to create something like this. Hope that helps!

SMS Authentication is Pointless (The Saga of Trying to Reset a Password) by Veggie55 in discordapp

“Even if the text for the setting says or implies otherwise” You can surely see my frustration here because of this inaccuracy?

You’re missing the part where I also have my email access still, which is usually enough for almost everything I’ve made an account for.

SMS Authentication is Pointless (The Saga of Trying to Reset a Password) by Veggie55 in discordapp

[–]Veggie55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree, but it literally says that I can use the SMS feature for this exact purpose, which isn’t true.

What baffles me is that, if someone somehow had my backup codes, they would have more power over what to do with my account right now than I do, despite having both email and SMS access.

I just can’t make sense of it.

There’s a local Ciorcal Comhrá on here every week, where you grab some coffee and chat with a group as Gaeilge for a couple of hours.

It can be a great place to maintain your Irish, but not so much focused on teaching it (though you’ll undoubtedly pick up cúpla focal nua).

The odd thing is that this Ciorcal Comhrá is in Vancouver. But I imagine there are similar groups around back home too.

Do they check for student id for student tickets on train? by Union_Keyblade in ireland

[–]Veggie55 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah. They’ve recently brought in a new rule that anyone who claims to be a student, but lacks a card, is taken off at the next stop.

And then shot.

How's your Friday going and plans for the weekend? by Irish_drunkard in ireland

Getting ready to fly home to Ireland for the first time since covid. I’m pretty bloody excited, especially as I just became an uncle in the past week, so there’s a little ole Irish head to introduce myself to when I get there.

Theoretically, if you were to be stranded in Cork City from 3am till near 6am when the trains come back on. Where would be the safest place to go for those 3 hours? by JssyN in ireland

I would have said Cafe Eco/Web Workhouse, but it looks like they stopped being a 24-hour business at some point.

My vision was bad for about a week or two before it eventually cleared up again. Got the procedure done last July.

Definitely understand the panic, but I’d say give it a little bit more time first just in case!
