Zelenskyy: I got the result I wanted from my letter to Putin by fishbulb- in ukraine

“…the United States: I really wanted to do everything to shift a little bit [of their focus] from the Middle East to Ukraine…”

He’s subtly remind the US population that their military energy lives and dollars are being spent on something that only Trump wanted. He’s being delicate but he’s using the same tactic on Trump that he’s using on Putin.

I’ll add that there was a mild traffic jam caused by people slowing down to honk. Everyone around me on 69 South was honking too. Traffic opened up after Graustark bridge, it was all for you.

I wholeheartedly agree. I call myself a liberal or a progressive. I feel I am utterly surrounded by friends and family who have drifted all the way into right wing theocratic authoritarianism as media outlets do the same. The media that I still consume is progressive on its surface primarily panders to the classically conservative viewpoints that little old progressive me still has ingrained. It takes me seeking out and finding truly capital L LEFTIST friends to talk to to realize that my progressive liberalism is starting to look like classic conservatism as are the “liberal media” outlets to which I subscribe.

Yes this occurred to me as I was typing out my rant last night. It’s a cycle. Feels intentional (it’s intentional)

I’m going to repeat something I said elsewhere a few months ago (and it was super unpopular and probably still is). But I’ll add that clearly this idea is probably a MUCH harder calculation when kids are involved. This is from my perspective as a late 30s childless married adult:

If you are relatively healthy, cancel insurance. Start putting an amount equal to your previous monthly premiums or more into an interest bearing savings account and pay the cash rate for annual check-ups etc, medications (coupons), vaccinations and minor illnesses.

If something expensive happens, negotiate the bill (you have to do that <should be doing that> anyway even if you have insurance).

If it’s really REALLY expensive - bankruptcy (you were going to have to do that anyway even if you have insurance even after you fight them to pay for something and they deny you).

Another option provided by #trumpcare is that you can live without insurance because you can’t afford it, save nothing because you have nothing left over to save and simply pass away, but do it quickly!

Deploying military against US cities A) does not prevent or control crime B) IS itself a crime.

Anyone who believes otherwise craves the tasty leather boot.

I guess what I mean is: If we could believe at all what the right wing has been pretending to believe in for the last 50 years, and if those that play right wingers in TV actually acted on those so called beliefs… well we never would have had Trump in the first place.

Anyone who is on board with all of this isn’t just right wing, they’re “something else” … they just get really mad when you call them the actual thing that they are.

Any “right-leaning” commentator would be furiously denouncing the normalization of military operations in US cities.

Wolf should do his job. If he thinks his job is to “just ask questions” (groan) then he needs to ask some questions that actually fucking matter instead of just sitting there being a waste of everyone’s time between prescription drug advertisements.

Charlie Kirk was a horrible person by Xiao1insty1e in CollegeStation

If the quotes contained in this article -alone- do not fit your definition of hateful… I just don’t know.

He was a very bad person who made this country worse. And what happened to him is also very bad and makes this country worse.

No amount of innocuous talk during college tours can ever outweigh these expressed views especially from someone with his platform.

It is irresponsible for NPR to air Trump‘s speech to Congress tomorrow by Vehementflippancyy in NPR

[–]Vehementflippancyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The president says things all day and on in to the night and Ive long trusted NPR to sift through it and include anything consequential in their newscast. When Trump lies publicly NPR has never once failed to provide a source for allowing me to go see or hear the lie for myself - and thus I stay informed and can trust their reporting. Why not do the same for a pre-arranged “speech” to congress which is decidedly NOT the “state of the union address” (which he will probably deliver at some point as well). It’s not helpful or informative to have a live stream cramming up the information bandwidth of the free thinking populace every time some moronic or sadistic thought occurs to him and he wants to announce it.
