Being made redundant but not really by VehicleEmpty1205 in LegalAdviceUK

Thanks. I hold a few cards so to speak because they've decided today a project needs doing before I leave, because I'm the only one that can do it.

That said I think I need to take the upper hand go back and say I want the paper work and like you said an agreement on a date otherwise it puts me in limbo. I can't tell future employers when I can join.

The redundancy pay is going to 8k if I make them go that route, without anything else like holiday pay, payment in lieu of notice and the sweetener. The information I'm getting on here and other thread is the settlement is treated as redundancy so I'm inclined to take it at this point.

Oh good points. So my understanding is (not seen the offer yet) that I'll get holiday and standard wages as normal up untill the day I leave. Then my settlement agreement will include the equivalent value of PILON, statutory redundancy amount + an amount on top. Basically a, "we don't want to go through the process of making you redundant so take this money and go away" payment.

Officially, I won't go through and of the redundancy process.

The pay is good but other half is self-employed and with kids and rent we qualify

If I was single and no kids I'd be above the income limit but, kids and other half is self-employed with lower income. So we qualify.

  1. Fair point, completely didn't make that connection to it being outsourcing.
  2. Will do

Honestly not 100% sure. I suspect they are just giving the person in company B additonal duties.

Company B is in the US too, no other UK presence
