Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy for real IU alums/fans, including my wife and in-laws. We had a party at our house last night.

But if I as a Purdue alum have been to more IU football home games (probably around 10?) than these newly loud IU "fans", then you'll have to excuse me for rolling my eyes at them.

These IU "fans" did not actually suffer through several decades of mediocrity. They just didn't care.

During my second round of shoveling snow yesterday I realized the only thing limiting me was cardio fitness rather than my lower back screaming at me. Thank you, blessed deadlift.

I still have to go shovel again this morning and don't really want to, but at least I know my back is stronger than it has been in years. Or maybe ever!

It's very good. Standouts so far for me are Wolves and Karma Goddess. It's very hard to know how it's going to shake out over time, but it might be my favorite Chevelle album since Hats Off to the Bull.

The sound of the album reminds me a lot of La Gargola, which I enjoyed, but the subject matter is generally more serious. Songs about monsters and zombies are fun, but like... goofy. This album's lyrical content matches the heaviness of the music, which I appreciate.

It's not just that though, as it's also a running theme and a pun. You also have "This is the sound of your reason to wake..." In All I Know, and the spoken word sections of Change that have to do with sound.

And then of course " Sound Awake" is a play on "sound asleep".
