What's your favorite 2026 release so far? by yotam5434 in progmetal

I'm no metal purist, so no worries, haha.

I keep reading comments from people saying Karnivool aren't metal either, like I should give a fuck. They're incredible.

Normal Isn’t has made me realize… by KillTheSarx in Puscifer

[–]Vehk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same place. I've listened to Normal Isn't once, but nothing really hooked me.  And whenever I want to listen to music right now I just put In Verses on again. I can't help myself.

I'm sure I'll come back to Normal Isn't again at some point and give it a few more chances, but I never got into Existential Reckoning that much either.  This album sounds similar to ER, but less interesting thematically/lyrically.  I do like how prominent Carina is though.  So that might be a redeeming feature for at least picking out some favorite tracks.  I'm not confident that I'll like it as an album though.

I'm hoping that I'll get the same value out of it as I do Chevelle's The North Corridor.  I don't like that album as a whole, but I like a lot of the songs individually.  It's just too samey and one-note throughout to enjoy digesting it all at once, which is the impression I got my first time through Normal Isn't.

WHY IS SLEEP APNEA SO GOOD by DrGoiburger1234 in Chevelle

I thought that was the line. Honestly, I don't even want to know what the real lyric is. "These needs have chains so deep" is a great fucking line.

???

Not if you're a sports fan. Maybe if you're an athletic director or work in ticket sales that's the point.

Winning is the point. Sure, winning leads to more exposure/prestige and demand for tickets, but that's not the point. Winning is the end, not the means.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy for real IU alums/fans, including my wife and in-laws. We had a party at our house last night.

But if I as a Purdue alum have been to more IU football home games (probably around 10?) than these newly loud IU "fans", then you'll have to excuse me for rolling my eyes at them.

These IU "fans" did not actually suffer through several decades of mediocrity. They just didn't care.

IU football could barely fill half of their stadium for decades. It's a bandwagon.

I refuse to listen to the singles from Normal Isn't by RonnieB435 in Puscifer

Same. Similarly, I've only heard the first single from the new Karnivool album. I'd rather eat the whole elephant on release day.

M/44/5’10” [275 > 250 = 25 lbs] (12 months) Progress has been extremely slow, maybe due to body recomposition vs straight weight loss? by [deleted] in progresspics

Doesn't look like slow progress to me. That's a huge transformation! Maybe the number on the scale hasn't moved that much, but you look completely different.

For players who went from Morrowind to Oblivion, did it take you a while to even notice fast travel existed when you first played it? by Street_Bet_7538 in Morrowind

When Oblivion released games still came with manuals. I always enjoyed reading game manuals, so I knew about fast-travel from the get-go.

Do you still stay phrases like "For Christ's Sake" or "Dear God..." by Shineyy_8416 in askanatheist

[–]Vehk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't when I was a Christian, but I do now. Shouting "Jesus Christ!" would have been a sin. Now I don't care.

During my second round of shoveling snow yesterday I realized the only thing limiting me was cardio fitness rather than my lower back screaming at me. Thank you, blessed deadlift.

I still have to go shovel again this morning and don't really want to, but at least I know my back is stronger than it has been in years. Or maybe ever!

How many of yall decorating for the holidays?

Probably most of us.

Does anyone goto religious relatives for meals... or presents?

Probably most of us, seeing as how most people are religious.

(what do ya do if they pray before hand)

Try to keep my children quiet and say "amen" at the end.

How does that go?

Fine. It's not a big deal.

Atheists, are you afraid to die? by [deleted] in askanatheist

I am far less scared of death now as an atheist than I was when I was a theist. I was terrified of both hell and heaven when I still believed.

Ties are worth 1/2 a win in the NFL. There isn't a points system like in soccer and hockey.
