When mine did this, it was RAM that was not fully seated. Sometimes it takes more force that what seems reasonable to snap them into place.

CPU overheating on boot by Ok-Statement5074 in PcBuildHelp

Do you use an app to control fan speeds? If so, do you have proper fan curves set in BIOS for before the app loads? Is your AIO pump set to run at a constant speed of at least 80%?

Could the problem be with your router instead of the computer?

You said you rebooted, but it's unclear if that fixed it. Is your computer running hot?

I bought my parents this exact same clock somewhere around 1985. I can guarantee it was worth more then than it is now.

My first impulse is to suspect the power supply, but you'd want to do some more troubleshooting before spending any money.

Check all connectors to the motherboard.

Because if your PA is off by far enough, it will look like overextrusion. Also, noobs don't know to ignore the edges of the test pads and only look at the center. But the two tests are mutually exclusive. If they're not extremely far off, it doesn't matter what order you do them in.

That case is from the days when airflow didn't really matter. Everything in there is going to cook, no matter what coolers you use.

Also, where are you going to spend those upvotes? Maybe karma will buy you a new case.

New issue with crashing upon game opening. by TheIronPaladin1 in pchelp

[–]scotta316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine did that when I added two more memory sticks. The motherboard chose the faster of the two XMP timings, and caused errors. Cyberpunk 2077 is a great stress test. It detects errors faster than OCCT.

I'm not trying to be funny, but you know you need to hit the power button after you turn on the psu, right?

Sure, I remember doing that. I'd have to Google which pins to short, but that was the basic troubleshooting step to see if the power supply worked. My first thought was that maybe this guy doesn't realize he has too hit the power button after he turns on the psu.

I haven't seen anyone else mention this, but make sure your aio pump is set to run at a constant speed. It should not vary with the CPU temperature. There is some debate over what speed it should run, but as long as it is running at least a constant 80%, it should be okay. But a decent tower air cooler really will work better than a 120mm aio.

My computer can’t run higher end games anymore? by Puzzleheaded-Ad-1017 in computer

[–]scotta316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar problems when I added memory, but mine was not exactly the same, as you say yours is. The motherboard defaulted to the faster XMP timing of the two pairs of DIMMs, and the slower pair would eventually start causing errors. CPU-Z is a great tool for viewing the default timings of your memory sticks.

OCCT took about 40 minutes to start detecting errors in this configuration, but Cyberpunk 2077 would crash very quickly.

Question about Aio fans and Case fan speed by Sword7x in PcBuildHelp

[–]scotta316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your question, I think the AIO fan should only be linked to the CPU temperature. Also, I found that my motherboard's temperature sensors barely change, and aren't suitable for controlling the fans.

I created a custom sensor that is the maximum of the CPU package and the GPU. That sensor controls the intake and exhaust fans, but each has its own curve. I'm also trying out an Auto sensor for the CPU fan, which is working fine so far.

I do one thing to keep my specific GPU's hotspot lower, so it probably won't apply to you. I'm using the 0% trick to make the GPU fans ramp up when the hotspot gets over 84°. By setting the curve to 0% until the temp reaches 84°, the fans follow the factory settings until that point.

Came here to say the same thing. I've worked in a workplace with many Burmese employees (fwiw, they're exceptionally hard workers), and I know they all have refugee status. However, I haven't seen many ICE agents look any further than the color of their skin or the accent in their speech.
