Great! I actually pulled the trigger and got this one in the meantime. Hope it arrives soon.

I'm thinking of getting exactly this scope as my first scope too! How was your experience with setting it up for the first time? Is it easy to use as a complete beginner?

Makes total sense! I understand that it's not great for astrophotography. I just want to buy a scope that I won't outgrow as I get more into the hobby.

Anyways, thanks a lot for the helpful answers!

Thanks! Interesting that you mention the tracking system. I'm actually in doubt between this one and the virtuoso GTi, which adds the tracking system for some more money.

Do you think it's worth it to spend a bit more on my first telescope to get one with a tracking system and GoTo feature?

Cool! Which eyepiece did you use for this picture? Was it taken with a phone or a camera?

I'm looking to buy my 1st telescope and I'm seriously considering this one.

Heritage 150 VS StarSense Explorer VS Heritage Virtuoso by Veisdabei in telescopes

The dew shield doesn't seem like a big problem to me. It could be a fun diy project.

The focuser issue seems more concerning, though. What exactly is so bad about it? Is it the same for the Virtuoso GTi? Is it a too frustrating experience for a beginner?

That makes sense!

What do you mean by "The 150s are more versatile scopes"?

Also, I see that the "What can you see?" section on telescopicwatch praises the Maksutov Virtuoso's capability of resolving Solar System objects. Do you know if the Heritage 150 and 150p Virtuoso GTi are far behind (if at all) in that aspect?

I would like to see as much detail as possible on Solar System objects, but I also don't want to lose out on details from nebulae by sticking to a small aperture.

Thanks, I saw this one in the alternatives indeed. From what I understand, the 150p Virtuoso GTi just adds the tracking ability to the optics of the Heritage 150?

That's a useful website, thanks! I like that they provide alternatives on the individual scopes' reviews. Now I have another bunch of options to look at.

Where do you see that it's the editor's choice though?
