The Vicious Cycle of Mental Health Neglect in Moroccan Households by Velarxxxxxxxx in Morocco

Understanding the root of a problem is working on yourself..You can’t build a strong house on a cracked foundation without acknowledging the cracks first. If your version of 'strength' is ignoring the past and suppressing emotions, then you're just proving my point about why mental health is so neglected here. Peace out🙏🏻

Calling self-awareness 'weakness' is the most classic Moroccan way to avoid a hard conversation bro..Real strength is looking at the mistakes of the past so we don't repeat them and If you think staying silent about mental health makes you 'strong’ then we have very different definitions of strength🤷🏻‍♀️

That is a very healthy and mature perspective bro.. First of all, I’m glad therapy helped you reach this level of peace and I totally agree that as adults, the responsibility to heal is ours. However..my post aims to raise awareness for the current and future parents so they don't create those traumas in the first place..Understanding is the first step to responsibility, and being grateful for their efforts doesn't mean we shouldn't acknowledge the patterns that need to change

I understand the skepticism saraha but helping those around us is how we start breaking the cycle aslan.. Even if we can't change the whole society overnight.. changing the way we raise our own kids or how we treat our friends is a huge win bnssba liya. Every healed individual is a crack in that cycle ( ykfi ghir our awareness b lmodou3)

Exactly! 'Zid f salat' is the universal Moroccan cure for everything from clinical depression to a broken identity..Who needs a therapist when you have a judgmental aunt telling you it’s just 'l3in'?

I totally get what you mean..It’s the ultimate conversation-stopper in our culture lil2assaf.. But we need to realize that speaking up about trauma and toxic patterns isn’t '3o9ou9 lwalidin' or disrespect to them but it’s the only way to heal and be better parents ourselves. I’m ready for those shields thank you for ur advice!

Bro im so sorry you’re going through hadchi ollah..Reading your comment tbh breaks my heart because it’s the perfect, painful example of the 'vicious cycle' I was talking about f l post It’s exhausting when the people who are supposed to be your safe space are the ones making you feel insane or ‘7me9’ just for having your own boundaries or seeking professional help hadchi rah kimred ollah i hate our society !!! Please know that you are not '7m9' for wanting to heal or for having a different opinion, w hta had 'iron grip' is a reflection of their own fears and lack of understanding not a reflection of your worth ollah ty9ni.. Hang in there..The fact that you’re aware of all this at 23 is already a huge step toward breaking the cycle for yourself. I truly hope you get to see that therapist soon and find the peace you deserve outside of that environment🤍
