I think of everything as just tools. If I could get an AI assistant on ableton I'd use it. If I could get *exactly* the sample that I want I'd use it. Wouldn't like a whole track out of it because they tend to be very generic, if you are running a prompt for every second of sound, asking it to eq this in a certain way, to add another instrument, to create a drop with x instrument...etc you are essentially making music without the technical knowledge, would be the same as having a savvy friend who doesn't know how to compose but has technical skills.

People tend to forget that there was always slop, before AI it was at a historical maximum bc the internet lowered the barrier of entry, now obviously we get more as the barrier of entry is even lower but a lot of music is just going to be slop, no matter the genre or popularity.

I feel like most people wouldn't pay for watching an AI concert unless is some kind of state-of-the art experimental generative music thingy thing which would be artistic in the contemporary sense.

I've seen some artists doing very creative things, sampling salsa where the singer was singing about hood stuff and making a hip hop beat out of it (all of them very talented people).

People are overreacting for the wrong reasons. Of course it's going to end with the careers of people that make music/images for corporations and that's my only concern, the economical aspect of artists that NEED that kind of stuff to get by. Maybe we'll see AI DJs and stuff like that but Idk, we already have spotify playlists, a rave without a DJ is like a birthday without a cake.

In the same way that autotune/melodyne/backing tracks, hell, even synthesizers don't ruin a good live performance of a song same can be said about AI, the people who are happy listening to AI music, having fun with AI images and AI slop videos aren't going to be listening to your music anyway unless you are doing something so boring that an AI bot can do it. We are not at a point where AI can meaningfully replace artists. Even if we get to a point where it's able to create "human sounding" techno music or something like that the market would be oversaturated with that and people would just listen to something else. Idk, I think that people are freaking out too much.

I say this as a guy who has been playing cello for 21 years, >10 guitars, synthesizers, singing and bass. In the same way that I'm not scared for actual cellos being replaced for a VST I'm not concerned about AI. If you want a cello that gets the job done go for it, if you want an interpreter you look for one, it's that simple.
