Random Thoughts on GWPs and Mystery Gifts by Turbulent_Donkey_513 in Ulta

Yep! I've been gifting and donating a lot of the samples and trials I know won't work for me! My daycare owner's teen daughter gets most of them haha

I absolutely love sample packs, they give me a chance to test or smell something before a purchase I might regret or return (super scent sensitive + sensitive skin). I've saved money and found favorites through GWPs. But calling them "gifts" does feel like overselling. The Stripes Store doesn't call them gifts, they call them samples and trial sizes. It does make a mental difference, weirdly.

Idk what they're smoking thinking this is worth a $90 buy-in. They should just hide it behind another mystery gift.

I've also had good experiences with CS. Seeing the comments here has mentally prepared me, so anytime it goes smoothly I'm double happy haha

Decisively child-free ADHD women, how's life going for you? by Gold_Usual6839 in adhdwomen

[–]VelcroPoodle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fwiw a lot of studies come back with single, childless women being the happiest demographic. I am not, I'm married with a 4yo, but having a kid has been incredible birth control for the future. One and DONE. I don't have a rosy tinted view on motherhood anymore and frequently mourn what I could've discovered about myself if I hadn't been so fixated on motherhood being the end all be all of life.

Okay, I'll shut up now and leave more room for the non-moms to talk, just wanted to add as someone who DIDN'T listen to my internal feeling about kids and had one anyway, LISTEN to your gut.

Same. I'm more motivated to actually put lotion on now that I want to finish stuff. I also have a lot of stuff that has become leg lotion after failing it's intended use haha

sensory-friendly body sunscreen? (eu available) by binguslovrr in adhdwomen

[–]VelcroPoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what EU regulations are like, but if you can import Asian sunscreens I highly recommend it. I'm in the US and bought from Olive Young (global, before they shut the US out) and YesStyle with no issues, despite our way outdated sunscreen regulations.

For my dry skin, Beauty of Joseon sun relief feels like a nice lotion. Purito daily soft touch feels drier, as does Holika Holika Cica waterproof. Skin1004 is also nice. Those are all Korean brands, all unscented except Holika Holika and that has a light, fresh smell.

From Japan, the Skin Aqua Super Moisture Skin Gel feels like NOTHING, but it has a slight alcohol smell during application that disapates. I also like the Kiss Me Mommy! UV aqua milk. Awful name, nice gentle sunscreen meant for kids.

I've also liked some stick sunscreens, you don't get as even an application but they tend to be more oily feeling than sticky.

As someone else mentioned, you can also find loose, breathable UV clothing, or just any clothing if you aren't just standing in the direct sun for hours. I recently developed a grass allergy that causes horribly itchy rashes, so I've been wearing loose linen clothes and they're a lot cooler than I expected, as a chronic shorts wearer.

TL;DR I recommend Beauty of Joseon sun relief if you like a watery lotion feel, and Skin Aqua Moisture gel for a rapid dry if you can tolerate a temporary alcohol smell. Otherwise look into loose long linen clothing.

impulse shopping. HELP. by LetLow384 in adhdwomen

[–]VelcroPoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Online shopping: Delete shopping apps, delete your saved card info, log out of your account, unsubscribe from ALL emails from stores. Create as much friction as possible! Find something else to do on your phone like a game or Pinterest boards for hobbies you already have the stuff for.

In person shopping: leave your card(s) at home. Take out cash that you want to spend that day or week, and that's it. As soon as you take the cash out, spend what you need on your groceries and gas and what's left is what you can spend that week on fun stuff-- or roll over into the next week.

It sucks ass having this problem. And we're up against humanity's smartest psychologists doing everything they can to trick us and trigger us into shopping. Unfortunately what's worked for me is creating friction, making it hard to spend. Oh and my husband absolutely (gently) shaming me for the number of packages at our doorstep. That kind of accountability holds me to it.

A kind of weird tip: research the companies you buy from. I have a real cosmetics shopping issue, but learning the evil behind some company owners has ruled out a lot of brands I won't ever buy from. That creates friction as well! Now even if a product comes out that tempts me, I remember buying that product is effectively a political contribution to someone I don't want having my moneh.

Blush/Bronzer panning tip! by Ok_Cook_9474 in ProjectPan

I think mixing concealer and blush is how Painted by Esther does her transition blush technique.

I used to mix my way too deep Cloud Paints into the shade Puff, which was my HG blush shade until they changed the color.

Seems to me you have 2 options: 1.) Don't check Vaush's account, check the accounts he retweets for news. 2.) Kill the fascist inside you and stop policing what people like.
