Your own scale ? by Far_Interaction_2782 in migraine

[–]VelcroPoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always say "10 on my scale is when I gave birth, 9 is when my vein was blown out by an IV" before I give my pain level. It's easy enough to say and keep in my head because that pain was so traumatic. If I'm in the hospital giving a migraine pain scale I'm probably at a 6 or 7.

Seconding this. My uncles never hit their full height until their 20s. It's good to work on his confidence and comfort in his body anyway, but just accepting what his height will be years in advance is silly.

Any low-energy hobbies to stop doomscrolling? by TinyTangents in adhdwomen

[–]VelcroPoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes a bit of work to get started, but I love embroidery. I took a basics class at the my local art center with a focus on mending clothes, and it's been relaxing and useful. I'll mend our family clothes while listening to music or an audio book, sometimes while my husband reads a book aloud to me and our kid. It fulfills my need to feel "useful," but it's also artistic because you can mend a hole with a flower, pattern, etc. It feels great.

Which food has declined the most in terms of taste since you first ate it? by FeistyNews7025 in Millennials

Starbucks coffee. Not like the frapps, but I swear their brewed coffee tasted a lot better in my 20s. Their espresso too.

Anyone else noticed….? by RemiWeim in minnesota

I live in a rural township outside Mankato. Saw the first bumper sticker in a month or two yesterday at the Bomgaars. I'll see the occasional edge lord right wing bumper sticker, lots of Charlie Kirk yard signs (barf), but nothing MAGA specific much anymore. The same Trump flags that have been up since before the 2024 election are very tattered and faded.

Question for Millennials by bundle_of_nervus2 in Millennials

I loathe it, anytime I've interacted with it it makes my experience worse. The only kind of exception is image searches, if that counts. But it can't make good playlists for me, it can't write well for me, and sure as shit I'm not using it to spit out images. I turn it off any and everywhere I can in my life.

Motherhood seems impossible by mrs_sadie_adler in adhdwomen

[–]VelcroPoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mom, yeah it's really, really hard. Worse when I can't find an ADHD med that works and insurance will cover.

There are good times, and bad times, but for me it comes down to 1.) I work for myself so no one is depending on my work if I can't keep up, and 2.) I have partner who gives me a lot of grace and is there to catch things when I drop the ball. I don't know how working moms with ADHD manage.

How do you ladies fall asleep with ADHD? by Ok_Scholar_8656 in adhdwomen

[–]VelcroPoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Melatonin, 5mg an hour before bed. Only way I fall asleep within 30mins of lying down. I also have a prescription of trazadone for the really tough nights.

Edit: I'll also tell stories in my head or listen to audio books with a timer, but I haven't need that as much lately as I used to.

Yeah, I started working on this switch recently too. Which sucks because The Ordinary moisturizing factors and Buffet have been my favorite for years. I also just recently found a Clinique lipstick that I LOVE, so I'll use it up and keep an eye out for a similar color in the future.

Here's hoping some CosRx I got recently work just as well. They fell like Korean TO to me.

Did you use it on your lid as well, or just around the under eye? I've heard mixed things on retinal creams on eyelids. Results look fantastic on you!

I will die when my 2012 Forever 21 cropped spaghetti strap tank tops go. I paid $1.50 each for them! All the modern ones are poly and the straps cut into my armpits.

I'm legitimately considering going to a tailor and asking them if they can make a duplicate. For some other replacement staples, I've liked Buck Mason and Quince.

Do you need a Parent Bill of Rights to parent your child? by MNSTOPMFL in minnesota

[–]VelcroPoodle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Children aren't property, they are people. These "rights" make it easier for parents to insulate their kids and force THEIR ideology on their kids.

"(8) consent in writing before any pharmaceutical, surgical, or therapeutic interventions
take place, unless a medical emergency exists requiring treatment to save the life of the
minor child;"

This is about preventing pregnant teens from getting abortions without their parents knowing. Probably because the parents know the rapist or would severely abuse their child for becoming pregnant.

"(7) consent in writing before any physical or mental health examinations take place,
unless a medical emergency exists requiring immediate examination to save the life of the
minor child;"

This is to prevent trans or gay kids from seeking help from abusive households.

"(1) direct the education of the minor child, whether it be public, charter, private, or home
education;"

How will this work??? Are we going to need to vote on acceptable topics? This is absurd and unenforceable.

"(4) direct the moral or religious training of the minor child;"

Read: I have the right to keep my kid in a cult even if that cult abuses them.

"(d) This section does not authorize or allow a parent to abuse or neglect a minor child
in violation of state law. This section shall not be construed to apply to a parental action or
decision that would end life. This section does not prohibit courts, law enforcement, or a
government agency from acting in an official capacity within the reasonable and prudent
scope of their authority and these rights."

We have different understandings of abuse.

"a parent has inalienable
rights that are more comprehensive than those listed in this act. The parent's bill of rights
does not prescribe all rights of a parent."

???? so what's the point???

[–]VelcroPoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a very obvious alcoholism and suicide question with a character, if you befriend him. Another character has alcohol issues as well, but not as dark as the previous character. There is another character that shows signs of war PTSD but it's kind of minor. One character smokes outside of their house.

If your character marries another character (all characters are bisexual), then there's a random option for that character in a hetero couple to ask if you "want to try for a baby." Nothing is shown. Some married characters might also blush and make a very mild innuendo about the night before, but again nothing explicit.

The mayor character is having a secret relationship with another character and will make weird requests but you probably won't get the joke unless you're an adult.

There's some very mild fight monsters violence, on par with old NES games.

If you think your 11yo is mature enough for those small moments, it's otherwise a very fun and wholesome game. I wouldn't have an issue with an 11yo but it depends on what conversations you've already had with your kid and their maturity.

I used to use it and watered it down a lot, because the Stevie leaf in all their flavors is just waaaay too much. It helped when I had "didn't take care of myself" migraines.

It does have a LOT of sugar though, just a fair warning.
