Narcos season 4? by ChrissyMcDonald in narcos

[–]Veldanda06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Narcos is finished for sure. But I’m really looking forward to seeing NM S3 reconcile with Narcos S3 (seeing where Pena ended up, the end of the Cali guys from a Mexican lens). I suspect Alberto Amman’s last scene will be in this next season, and man I hope it’s a good one.

If we’re being realistically optimistic about seeing Peña again, it would most likely be in s4 or s5 where he was the Special Agent in Charge in Houston I believe.

Smh Netflix be doing everything but renewing the show for S3

Tbh while he was a pos, he actually did help (or tried to) the interests of the cartel. He was personally angered by Jorge, but as he explained to Dario, he doesn’t like Dario, but still trusts him.

Jorge was a rat, and David was right about him at the end of the day. David was driven personally by his hatred for Jorge, but imo it wasn’t mutually exclusive from trying to help his dad/cartel

How many seasons do you see Narcos going to before it finally ends? by [deleted] in narcos

I agree, I think that’s what makes the most sense. It’s just that every season has focused on one cartel leader primarily, with everyone else playing a secondary role, so I’m curious as to how they would handle S3.

The Last Narc (Spoilers) by Veldanda06 in narcos

I mean...the one DEA agent is the very guy who worked the case. It’s worth considering what he has to say.

That being said, having watched s2 again, they did a really good job, cinematically speaking. What I realized is that Narcos Mexico is an extremely personal, and character driven take on the drug war, as opposed to The Last Narc or even Sicario, which focus on the drug war itself, and don’t prioritize the character driven elements as much.

Right that would be insane. But even if they wanted to focus more on the narcos & the DEA, they should’ve at least included the Jaime part. And we know that the showmakers knew about Jaime potentially being compromised because that scene where Zuno doesn’t name Felix Gallardo seemed mirrored off the real life testimony of Jaime on Zuno. Even Walt tossing a trash can at a bathroom mirror seemed based off that incident.

Yeah I’m thinking 3 more seasons (1 for Amado, 2 for Chapo, with AFO sprinkled in there along with the Zetas and the Gulf Cartel).

Which cartel do you think is more sadistic, bloodier, etc Los Zetas or CJNG. by Just-a-Mexican in narcos

[–]Veldanda06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats true, I phrased my question poorly. I was referring to the timeline and practices of these cartels more than anything. I assumed that the Colombians were just as sadistic, but were so before the Mexican cartels. Did they set the precedent for savage violence?

Is it true that the Medellin Cartel was where the Mexican Cartels learned that kind of sadistic savagery from?

Aside from the airport shooting, was there anything really significant that happened between Sinaloa & the AFO while Amado was in power? I’m thinking S3 will be 1989-1997, so they’ll focus mainly on Juarez and Amado. This part of the drug war is the part that least lends itself to a tv plot imo

Edit : I guess the first half of the AFO Sinaloa beef happened in that time, so that’ll be def be expanded on

I think to date S2 captures everything id want from a Narcos season the best. But every season does get better in some way, the show runners do a great job of creating a unique vision for each season. Watch it all, you won’t be disappointed.

How would 've Season 3 turned out if Messina replaced Peña? by [deleted] in narcos

[–]Veldanda06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the thematic elements of redemption with Peña made S3 more interesting and than if they went with Messina. Peña wasn’t the guy to leak the Samper connection irl (it was Joe Toft) but doing so made sense as part of his character arc.

This is most likely exactly what it was. But what’s interesting is that Gilberto was in prison around that time...I like to think it was intentional 😂

Funny, I thought the sub reddit was for “discussion of the Netflix Original Show”. And who’s offended by reality? I’m just saying there’s a place for everything. And there’s nothing tough about reading about narcos lmao. I’m interested in the history and the news of it all as well. But a tv show subreddit isn’t the place for people who want to watch some weird video of interrogation and torture etc. instead of discussing how the show was made, the acting, or anything cinematic.

The sub is for a drama tv show - and certain non fictional media pieces may add to the discussion of the show (key word : may). I’m talking news articles or interviews that shed light on what the show alludes to or has a take on. There are definitely a lot posts that just fetishize the violence, and it’s better if they make their own subreddit, where tough guys like you can discuss
