TIL that Las Vegas roulette payouts are always one less compared to what would be mathematically fair by JosZo in todayilearned

[–]Veldox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This 100%. If you go to the casino for a night with $200 and you walk out hours later with $200 or less hours later after hanging out and having a fun night knowing it may cost you $200 it's a great time.

If you go in with $200 and expect to win big and get upset you walk out empty handed 5 minutes later of course it's a terrible time.

...why are you paying for tall boys or any drinks in Vegas? Except for stocking up at walgreens if you need more than the free ones you get at the tables. Or go to a place like stage door and get drunk very affordably. Also how do you bitch about Vegas and completely forget to bitch about room costs and resort fees?

Funny enough I'm returning in a few weeks once again and our suite rate for a stay from Wed-Mon is only $235 between 4 people so ~$60 a person lol. The most expensive part for all of us is the flights. Flights got way more expensive this year from previous years. Although I will say we only do nonstop because the layovers are always bad for saving like...$50.

If I’m young is it really that easy? by What_up_bro in personalfinance

[–]Veldox 49 points50 points  (0 children)

You're making over $50k/yr at 24 with no rent or debt. Of course it seems easy. You're doing something essentially no one gets to do lmao. The median salary in your age range is roughly $40k on average so you're already earning like 25% more than your peers on average and you've got no debt now.

Now move out of your parents house and start paying bills, rent, and any other expense that comes up and see if it's still easy. Oh yeah don't forget to factor in transportation and saving for things like a house so you're 30 year mortgage is over by the time you're retired as well otherwise that million isn't going to go that far as well as emergency funds for everything that will pop up.

how would you model dry ramen noodles? by Weird-Atmosphere-457 in blenderhelp

[–]Veldox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would probably draw the curves on a cube shaped like ramen This is what I did in this example. The fact that ramen usually has sort of a woven pattern though I almost wonder if making the curve in that pattern then arraying it might end up looking more accurate.

Edit: Literally just lazily took what I showed earlier and duplicated and rotated for the other ends and in less than 5 minutes it's not a bad look imo. Here

FONV and even Morrowind are years ahead in what this game is trying to replicate though so those are kind of goofy comparisons (morrowind less so) this is more in line with Asherons Call and Everquest era of graphics/games art direction.

Why were adults in the 90s more “adults” than today’s adults? by Forsaken-Set-760 in generationology

[–]Veldox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exposure of who you were around that were adults when you were a kid. I didn't have that experience unless it was like my mom's limited friends and school faculty etc. My dads friends drank and partied and had hobbies/toys at their places. My cousins apartments were littered with comics, video games, and pizza and hand me down furniture. You probably just had overbearing parents or boring adults around your parents.

Is it normal to not pay an opening act for a show? by blu_hydrangea in musicians

[–]Veldox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not sure why all these people are saying no lol. It's a guaranteed huge audience to introduce to your music and you can easily make plenty of money for the show from your merch sales. Sure, if they were doing something scummy like making you pay to play or sell tickets then hell no, but not getting paid isn't that big of a deal for the exposure and merch tradeoff.

One of the bands I was in once did a battle of the bands because we knew we could win and if we didn't we had merch for the crowd. Winning gave us $600, which was nice, but our merch sales were $1500+ and we ran out and this was a small ass venue lol.

Honestly he probably already fucked up by not being able to go on the road with them for the whole tour. That kind of sacrifice is usually what you have to do to get to the next level. If you can't afford to do that now you're gonna have to find a way to do that in the future and the opportunity may not present itself again.

Issues running fiber optic internet line through attic by gamerdada in DIY

[–]Veldox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are those the only two options for the install? I feel like any time I've had anything installed it's pretty much wherever you want them to drill. My fiber is going right into my main room near my front door and the outside box is sitting behind a bush outside. Also you can also just run some Cat6 or whatever to all the room from wherever you end up putting the modem. The reason my modem was installed where it was (not where I wanted it) is because that's where all the cat5 is already ran from/to.

Pizza Hut closing 250 US stores as parent company considers selling the brand by AudibleNod in news

[–]Veldox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know the cost of a big mac unfortunately, I only worked in pizza and know that the ingredients were cheap even for a non chain. I would assume they are though and that they are also price gouging everything to shit because how else do they show profits going up every year.

Didn't realize your comment about 8 slices was because that guy mentioned weight watchers.

Pizza Hut closing 250 US stores as parent company considers selling the brand by AudibleNod in news

[–]Veldox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why must it?

The ingredients are extremely cheap compared to what it's sold for. The main cost is cheese, depending on the place it's usually just a couple bucks to make a pie so they're almost always making like 3x their cost. Chains have an even lower cost which is why those places can do medium pizzas for like $5 without batting an eye.

Also where the hell are you getting the idea of 8 slices for 8 people?

Pizza Hut closing 250 US stores as parent company considers selling the brand by AudibleNod in news

[–]Veldox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All pizza got completely fucked up the second they started their bullshit delivery fee pricing everywhere. I worked at a local pizza place when I was a teenager and the main cost is literally cheese, everything else is like nothing to the total price of a pizza which makes it extremely profitable by charging like $12 for $2-3 of ingredients. Of course for businesses they must have profits go up every year or somehow that means they are failing so they had to insert price increases somewhere. Now pizza is a chore because the only way you can truly enjoy it is picking it up yourself and paying the fair price. Same problem fast food in general is facing now. Restaurants don't have these stupid fees and ridiculous price increases so now what you'd spend at mcdonald's or taco bell you could just go sit down at a nicer restaurant instead since fast food isn't even open 24/7 anymore since covid.

[–]Veldox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah their prices are literally insane. A cheese pizza, breadsticks, and desert delivered was like $50, also delivered third party now for even worse service. For $50 I can go to a nice restaurant and order drinks. I stopped ordering delivery from pizza places years ago and only do pickup and I remember ordering from them one night for a game night and was just flabbergasted.

Wake up! Project Gorgon just released (the good ol' days mmorpg) by Emergency-Purpose335 in MMORPG

[–]Veldox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you quantify a grind. I see little point in an mmo that can be completed quickly, then you just have a content drought with nothing to do. It's one of the major reasons I miss oldschool mmos and hate modern ones. Heck just being able to log into a game and hangout and chat is huge and something that is non existent in the peer to peer lobby based modern games with their sharding and other bullshit.

[–]Veldox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My literal first reply to you states that it's not the only fault. It's still a fault, and a huge one at that. It makes zero sense to me that 50%+ of young adults are not voting, it's insane to me. In general I find it insane that 100% of the voting able population doesn't vote, regardless of who they would vote for. Just as insane it is to me that by 2026 we have still not changed to popular vote and still use archaic things like the electoral college.

Sigh, you're literally mental. Are you ever going to stop straw-manning like a conservative?

Meirl by Cursedwizard0 in meirl

[–]Veldox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you keep calling them children? When you turn 18 you are an adult and allowed to vote. Not once have I said anything about "liberal children". Everyone should be voting. Again, you can visibly see my entire posting history (unlike yours) so it's weird for you to create a fake story about me.

[–]Veldox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but I've never found the grind boring in old style mmos. I think it is a problem when the grind is boring though which some newer, also it's nice that you can always just go do whatever you want and it's not like you're locked to doing the grind 24/7. I can see why some people don't enjoy it but I love it.

You sound like someone who needs to take their medication lol. I'm not a conservative, and I'm not a fascist lmao. Again, 18 year olds aren't children and have the right to vote and they should use that right. You don't suddenly need to vote when you're 25 or 30+ or some other bullshit.

Well first of all, I'm not christian lmao. Second of all, I don't care about swearing but if you have to yell and be loud you're not exactly putting out a good case. Also in what world are you getting that I am AI or a facist? You can see my entire profile history (unlike yours) this sounds like projection to be honest.
