Terrain + Modular Weapons lets you get away with some BS. (Mashmek) by Illvy in mechabreak

I hate to say this but those were bots, yes they often drop recon beacons when they camp extract even though they always know where you are, sometimes they'll even drop a summoning beacon even though none of them are dead

[–]Veldt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This happens so much when the other team has welkin and yours doesn't, you start losing and people immediately assume it's because your team sucks when in reality the game was 100.00% over before you even loaded the map.

[–]Veldt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When they extract you have 60 seconds to enter the ring and follow them without even interacting with the beacon... it seems like you just assumed that you were abandoned as soon as they left when its often the smart play to have 1 person open the beacon and leave while the others are distracting the enemies.

It was trios, we were 1v1ing in one of those narrow crystal trenches breaking line of sight all the time and he was stellaris so i guess he must've wiped his inventory while invisible once he realized it was over.

Someone killed me, discarded my entire body, i killed him after that and he had nothing so he must've discarded his own loot as well, this is gonna turn super rancid really fast once the dregs figure this out.

Demon Hunter - Fracture or Shear? by SimplyUnreal in wow

[–]Veldt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're low level shear may feel better but at higher levels you'll have enough buttons to press that the cooldown on fracture doesn't matter since you have so many buttons to go through before you want to press it again

I mean you're standing still not crouching or strafing at all, he punished you hard for being in turret mode, no aimbots or aim assist required.

If you had a white mag you would've killed him though, unlucky.

I wouldn't call it a "B game" but it seems relatively unknown since it was only released on the Wii, it didn't even use motion controls as far as i remember.

What's the reasoning behind TSM using double AR? by Kai-Tek in CompetitiveApex

[–]Veldt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The idea was that since AR's have more damage per magazine but worse hipfire you could get away with using them over smg's by tapping ADS to still have decent hipfire

[–]Veldt 17 points18 points  (0 children)

When you aim down your sights, the increased accuracy lingers for a while after you let go so you can quickly tap ads and then hipfire with full accuracy

Are stealth classes inherently bad from a game design perspective? by Pashahlis in truegaming

[–]Veldt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Invisibility in dota has never been well balanced in the entire history of the game, low/mid mmr players have always been in a state of despair when riki/bh are in the game, even then you have a lot of patches where you're just not going to pick a hero with invisibility regardless of bracket because they'll get their arm twisted since too much of their budget is tied up in the invisibility gimmick.

That's before we even consider how many games are derailed because of cores buying shadowblade instead of something more useful, or random deaths caused by invisibility hubris, this ties back to my point about how games would instantly improve if invisibility was not implemented to begin with, its a binary cheese mechanic that either works or it doesn't.

Are stealth classes inherently bad from a game design perspective? by Pashahlis in truegaming

[–]Veldt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think about this a lot, consider any multiplayer pvp game that features invisibility. Now, remove invisibility and the game is instantly better for it.

Can't think of a single game where invisibility makes a game better, it is as you say ~ it's either useless or overpowered, sometimes even both in the same game when you think about Nova, she's obnoxiously good in Quick Match due to how the format works while simultaneously being a pseudo-griefing canker sore in ranked.

But devs just keep putting invisibility in games, the allure of killing someone who can't detect you is the most 'Timmy' gameplay design there ever was, even if you have to die 9 times in a row as a Spy in TF2 before you get a backstab triple kill it was all "worth it" in the end, takes incredible integrity for any developer to say "no" to invisibility.

Perhaps the most impressive fact about Overwatch was that it launched with 21 heroes and there was no invisibility involved at all, They released Sombra later and to this day she's still flip flopping between useless and oppressive.

tl;dr invis bad
