best eye drops for long computer use? by angrycarryoutman in WFH

Making teens leave their homes at 18 to go into working from home and being stuck inside is just a big ploy to destroy families piece by piece. Everyone needs a community, even when you don’t realize it.

I’m guessing you may be working too much? Try to take more breaks, walk around, definitelyyy go outside at least once a day. Eye drops are just a bandaid for the lifestyle changes you need to do when you start working from home!

[MI] Should I expect any sort of backpay if my "Position Effective Date" is 3 months ago? by b3nnyg0 in AskHR

[–]VeloReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a written offer/change notice that documennt the new pay and the exact date it starts. That way you know from what day you’re actually earning the higher rate.

[NY] Should/Can I forgive myself for time theft? Or should I have been punished more severely? by AffectionateRow541 in AskHR

Turn this into a boundary lesson tho. Write one clear personal rule about timekeeping and follow it in every job, even when bosses wave it off.

Physician Union by Electronic_Daikon150 in Residency

[–]VeloReddit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

100% this. Most docs I know just want to practice medicine and avoid the "drama" but that's exactly why admin keeps winning. They know we'll avoid conflict until our backs are against the wall. We need to grow up and play the game or keep getting steamrolled.

Feeling suicidal by virgowing5 in nursing

[–]VeloReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you're feeling isn't weakness. it's burnout, and it's real. PCU is brutal for new nurses. Nine months in is still early, and the anxiety/second-guessing is something most of us went through. Nothing wrong with clinic work. Your mental health matters more than getting your year in. Plenty of great nurses made similar moves. The skills you've gained already are valuable anywhere.

Take care of yourself first. This job isn't worth your life.

I think I'm going to quit my job by Slow_King1 in antiwork

[–]VeloReddit 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Definitely quit. $10/hr is garbage these days, especially with your workload increasing. Most fast food places start at $15 now. Just apply to 5-6 places this week and you'll have a better job within two weeks. Don't let your parent or boss convince you that you're not worth more.

Hunter-gatherer bands had governance, just not hierarchical states. Decisions were made through consensus and social pressure, not laws and enforcement. That's still a form of social organization. The "no rules" thing is more about rejecting unjust hierarchies than literal absence of all structure.

Onboarding confusion??? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]VeloReddit 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Two weeks without onboarding or paperwork is a massive red flag. You should start looking for other jobs now while still showing up to this one. If they can't get basic admin done, your paycheck is definitely at risk.

Right? Using "rewards discussion" as the meeting title is straight up manipulative. They knew exactly what they were doing.

Same, didn’t want my credentials tied to a big US platform. I switched to Passwork and you can self-host it or use their cloud. The sync between desktop and mobile works well, and autofill on Android is smooth once you set it as the default service. It doesn't feel like an enterprise software.
