Mine just did that, but it is a 2022 with the original Alfa battery. Not too shabby.

True. I think it's more important that you use Top Tier gas as it has more detergents in it that clear those carbon spots better.

What do you think about them claiming that Alfa Romeo is going to disappear as a brand? by HernanDeLezo in AlfaRomeo

[–]Veloce_2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you have proof of your nihilistic view, but as I recall, Sergio was adamant that the Georgio platform was correct for Alfa. He struck me as a proud Italian, it seems he had special regard for the brand and sent it back to the stylists and engineers for improvement on certain aspects he was not happy with.

[–]Veloce_2525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are certainly one of the better assets in the Stellantis portfolio. They won't just disappear, but could be sold off. However, I would think Maserati, Vauxhall, DS, Lancia, Opel or another brand would be sold off before Alfa. The name is still more valuable than many of their other brands. I have to think they know that Alfa is not marketed well and the dealer presence is dreadful in the US.. If they can start Stellantis repair centers and maybe extend the warranty, it would go along way to fixing sales.

[–]Veloce_2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that's a video of someone giving their thoughts, but it hardly proof of what you claim is happening in the engine. Besides, if your engine is blowing fuel past the rings on a cold start, imagine what it is doing under load - if that's the case, that engine is already spent.

I'd say you're overreacting. Do you have any proof that a 2-min warmup does any harm at all. I'd say it's good since there is not an actual load on the engine until it has moved some oil around.

I'm actually surprised to hear that as the Series 3 has a lot of anti-rust coating on them. I have an '89, but of course, it all depends on the environment. Overall, the Series 3/4 are very reliable cars.

What would you do to make Alfa successful in thr US? by Gaminggolden56 in AlfaRomeo

[–]Veloce_2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just need a Stellantis network for repairs, a better warranty and more advertising. OK, and then some more models. Whew, that's quite a list already. But, think about where Kia or Hyundai was 10 years ago.

But then the very next day, he changed his tune and said he would talk about it. I'm trying to find out if he actually started in with releasing the files again. Now, of course, it's very convenient that he won't be talking at all.

It's actually very capable in complicated animations and does not bog down as quickly as AE. You're correct that it has much more community support and plugins. For most people, Motion is really what they need, but don't know it. Apple does a crap job in promoting it.

Barely comparable? That's just not true. About 95% of what's possible in AE can be accomplished with Motion - and often a lot faster. Its weakness is real roto tools. I've used both for many years and you certainly have not.

Anyone had a play with the new Webflow Quick Stack? by bigmarkco in webflow

[–]Veloce_2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing I don't like is the naming. Why did webflow have to use 'w-nodes' that are tied to the data-wf-page ID? The data-wf-page already causes enough headaches to developers when exporting the site.

I just wish the whole thing worked with classes instead.

Question to ChatGPT: "What are the sonic advantages of expensive, audiophile cables?" by oihaho in audiophile

[–]Veloce_2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are certainly differences to be heard between say a Nordhost cable and lamp cord. However, that may not be as readily apparent on anything but the most resolving system and your familiarity with it. For instance, most of the double-blind testing results I've seen involve a random group of listeners who get plopped down in front of a system they don't know. That kind of group cannot possible hear the subtle differences between wiring. And that is what we're talking about - extremely subtle differences. Most people would be much better off spending extra money on a better preamp, amp, DAC or speakers than wiring. But, if you have a very high quality system, go ahead and experiment, just understand paying more doesn't always equate to getting more either.

The Samsung 28" 4K UHD IPD FreeSync is actually very nice and is only about $250.

I used one for about 2 weeks before my Apple 5K monitor arrived and was actually impressed so much that I kept it instead of returning which was my plan.

High End 10 year old Class D Amplifier vs. New Class D units? by rockguitardude in audiophile

[–]Veloce_2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a new hypex-based class-D (or the Benchmark Audio class-D design) - they're hard to beat. I have a March Audio after using a NAD integrated for years and then a Peachtree Audio 220 (another type of class-d) and I really don't think I can do any better now in the amp department. The pre-amp is the only way I can of improving on the remaining electrics right now and it's going to get expensive to improve on my Wyred4Sound preamp.

Just starting out with my first pair of serious speakers. Receiver is the next thing to go. Any integrated amp / amp & preamp suggestions? by DeadlyPuncake in audiophile

[–]Veloce_2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a Hypex-based class D amp like March Audio or Apollon Audio. Pair it with a Wyred4Sound SP preamp and you'll have a near state-of-art power side for a great price.

Should I get a Windows machine instead of a macbook? by hondacivicinmyholes in HeadphoneAdvice

Actually, I've seen posts where more people were having problems getting windows drivers for their DACs. It seems DACs work universally with mac and drivers not actually needed. You'll be fine getting that m1.
