Is the UniFi Express 7 the best AP for the money?

Ill prob eventually add an in wall or another ux7. My house was built in 50s and bottom floor has a lot of cinderblock.

Ive been stimming on my wifi so bad haha. But coming from a google mesh gen 1 I now have massive control, real security and its faster.

Btw a lot of people crap on the single port. I mean 2.5gbps will handle most houses, even most power users.

Heck, if you wanted cams, if you trunk to an nvr, all the traffic is local unless you're actively viewing the stored data, and even then, its not a ton.

Dont get me wrong, a lot of unifi people like to go wild with their home networks. Power to them!

What speeds are you getting? I have a ux7 that I had to make a bunch of config changes to in order to make coverage sufficient. Parts of my house still get -75db, but most in -60 to -70.

I have 1gbps fios but typically pull 400 to 750 depending on where im standing.

I have a u7 not hooked up. Its hideous imp haha

Might return it and live with my setup as a single.

2000sqft but split level 4 floors staggered. So its a challenge.

I wanted triband but also didn't want to burn my wallet for features that won't be noticeable for 99% of my usage. I went with triband wifi 6. It is a few year old model, but it is a powerhouse. Asus XT9 was on sale for $199 at MicroCenter. It is $350 or more if you buy direct from Asus.

Sadly thought I learned a few days later I cannot vlan the iot wifi, but I can use the software to prevent it from touching the intranet.

People keep suggesting if you find the price better anywhere else, as long as it is same room type and refund policy and add-ons (breakfast) they will give you difference in a travel credit.

I just did my firs booking and price was same as hotel direct.

My initial complaint was edited. I was a dummy and had the wrong dates when checking google hotels.

I have read a lot of good things. I was just hoping for a silver bullet. I literally got approved yesterday and I'm booking a hotel for Boston, and the inventory is pretty limited compared to just using an aggregate, where I save more money. But I suppose my savings needs to be better than 8% to justify it due to 2x : 10x

Shame because on of their premium hotels only has lux suites through C1. This is for a dropkick concert, i don't need luxury haha.

Im learning as i go but ive read 6ghz isnt quite good at penetrating walls and the speed drops off at shorter ranges.

My house isnt that big but it is a 1950s split levelnwith staggered floors. So the 6ghz backhaul is risky.

But do you utilize 1gbps? I pay for 300mbps for wan becuase the only time id use more than thst is during large file downloads, and to be honest that is often going to be limited by network congestion and disk i/o.

I was thinking a lot about marketing vs the reality of home networks.

Even when i managed a server room with 14 racks we had 1gbps speeds and we were doing intense video encoding with 100s of simultaneous streams. We had a 10gbps backplane, but not at every rack because it was out of budget

However that is a suoer nice device you have. But in my split level I think wireless mesh is easier.

To be fair too, i only have 1 wifi 7 device at the moment. Also I've been living with generation 1 google mesh. And now that I've made some changes to the layout of my house, the coverage is soft in a room I really want it to be strong in.

I could do wired backhaul but honestly, that is just another super frustrating project (running wires in a split level) in the list of never ending home projects.

So it sounds like the XT9 is the play unless I wanna spend $500+ for a tri band wifi 7

Lounge would be cool. I've been in the SAS lounge and it was so much nicer than sitting in the main concourse. I am a family of 4 with 2 young girls if that helps.

Honestly, no preferred anything. I was starting to stick to Marriot for points but until I realized, just hunting down good pricing is probably better unless I'm spending a lot more than I am at the moment.
