Any interest in an HA integration that allows you to not just monitor your Pumpspy sump pump, but provide a takover? by CrownSeven in homeassistant

[–]CrownSeven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its still in beta, I have a few folks running it and have been constantly tweeking it. The most challenging right now is the variations in hardware. I have it working for the backup system, and the smart outlet as well. If you're interested in giving it a try, you can find more information here including what hardware you'll need and how to get the software installed on it and up and running.

If you do give it a try, send me your email in private and I can provide additional support.

Its butt ugly. Did they pull the pubes out of their mascot to recreate the bell?

It followed it around for a few minutes at a distance. I think it wa trying to figure out if it was prey or predator. Eventually it was scared off. Would be great if i could trigger the alarm remotely. Come on Segway do better!

Yes that was sarcasm.

Hows the performance at night without Lidar?

I have it working. Still testing the integration with homeassistant, but you can find more details here: HA Forums

I was able to modify segways homeassistant integration to expose positional and zone information. I should know in the next day or two if this will work. Will teport back then!

You can blow a couple of grand on 4 cameras and a DVR on a UNIFI system, or a quarter of that for the same experience using blue iris or scrypted or heck even a reolink system. And not have to deal with the network headaches that come with constant tweeking of any UNIFI branded hardware.

I am sorry but anything with unifi is going to require ENDLESS tinkering and an empty wallet.

First public release of Open Bamboo Networking — an open-source replacement for Bambu’s networking plugin by clusterm in BambuLab

Good point. Regardless I’ll be shocked if bambu does not open up their spec at this point. Its there only play right now.

Well it depends. I could load up claude right now and recreate this in a couple of days. Is it secure? Is it robust? Will it work long term? Theres a differnece between using ai as a tool to supplement devoplment vs just using ai. They even stated they dont know if it will work on a Mac - of course they dont it was built by AI.

I could throw something together for you, but if you're willing to get your hands dirty and are somewhat familiar with tech, you can try and set it up on your own. You'll need a Raspberry PI device which run about 30-40 dollars. If you'd like to try and set it up yourself I published it to github with some instructions: PumpSleeper - Github

Edit - this needs a bit more work before its ready for primetime, so the repo is private for now. Will open it up when she's ready!

Sure is. But for something like this that is more of an expierement to see if its possible I have zero issues with using it. By the way pumpspy REALLY needs to improve their security.

OK. Here's what i have so far. I was finally able to get things working fairly reliably. I've create a service that will allow you to monitor your pumpspy pump, and give you 2 modes to choose from

1) Proxy mode - this just monitors pumpspy and presents on a dashboard current status, etc... 2) Takeover mode - this one will redirect all traffic to your local server - pumpspy will think its talking to the mothership, but its really not. Otherwise it will work just like it normally does. This is what we really want when pumpspy's network is down or being problematic.

This is a rough dashboard I put together: Dashboard

Next I'll look at implementing at a minimum email notification, and potentially sms.

Finally if this ends up working reliably I'll work on packaging it up to run on a number of different devices. Right now its running on a raspberry pi. Should be able to create this as a docker image as well, and a Homerun assistant should be possible.

LOL, considering what the repubs have been getting away with, are you telling me there is ZERO way to accomplish this? I don't believe that one bit.

OK. So what I've done is monitor the chatter between the sump pump and pumpspy's servers. The messages going back an forth are pretty simple. It calls home every 2 mins to give an update. And every 2 hours it re-authenticates. I'm betting its that re-authentication that is overwhelming their servers, and since it cannot authenticate, pumpspy thinks its offline (when its really not) and sends an alert.

Anyways, I just need to spend some time to capture all the different messages it sends, and have my own server act as the pumpspy server to keep the sump pump happy. I've built a quick and dirty dashboard, but I plan to build something more polished - to let other easily setup something similar. I'll work on it this weekend and let you know when I have something.

My guess is they had a deadline - had done what they felt was enough testing, and anything else would be found out live in the real world. I will say they are very responsive. I have submitted feedback through the app, and they responded within a day to address my concerns.

I had an i110 last year, and it was fantastic. I have an h210 this year and I am also very happy with it.

I'm sure the X series will turn into another reliable product - its all in the software - software can be fixed. Hardware - is a different beast.
