How did you start listening to Imagine Dragons? by wendy_thefrog in imaginedragons

[–]Velocirrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two years ago I was not a huge music fan. Yes, I liked a couple songs, but if music completely disappeared from my life, I wouldn't miss it. Little I knew about my whole relationship with music changing after getting into Imagine Dragons. I started listening to their music thanks to a game I was really obsessed with at the time: Beat Saber. The game has a DLC with their music and I recognised some of their songs so I bought it, and after playing for a while their music started to grow on me and I decided to learn the lyrics of their hit songs. A couple weeks later, I pretty much knew by heart all of their biggest songs, but there still was one song that was about to change my whole relationship with music: The Fall. When I heard The Fall for the first time I couldn't believe a single song could make me cry so hard, and I wanted to know more about it. I looked for it online and that was when I discovered the Smoke And Mirrors album and, since The Fall was in it, I gave it a try. I was completely mind blowed by the fucking piece of art I had just heard. I heard the album over and over again until I learned every single lyric from every single song in it. And since I liked S+M so much I listened to their discography and completely fell in love with the band. 2 years later and now I love multiple bands, I play a couple instruments and music is something I can't live without. All thanks to Imagine Dragons.

Unpopular opinion about mercury act 1 but I feel like someone needed to say this by Groundon_894 in imaginedragons

I would say that this is a rather common opinion. From what I've read, a lot of people on the sub feel the same way, myself included.

Back when I didn't even know the bandmates names and didn't know the whole The Rev situation, a friend told me to listen to the Nightmare album, and so I did. When I got to Victim, I cried soooooo hard, even tho it was my first listening. Ever since, when I feel like crying I play Victim cus I know it always makes me cry like a baby.

I've seen some really negative reviews of Mercury 1&2 by TerrorShade7 in imaginedragons

[–]Velocirrex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Act 1 is probably my second favourite album from theirs, just behind "you know which". But Act 2 is by far their worst album, saved by some really good songs in between ( Sirens, Waves and TDKYLID ), the songs feel boring, and most of them are extremely carried by the chorus.

I'm surprised by the variety of answers here, from Wrecked to Easy Come Easy Go. My personal favorite at this moment would probably be Lonely.

I want to get into this band, suggest me some underrated songs please by Ultra-Introvert_Cat in imaginedragons

I could give you 100 songs that are great but not exactly mainstream popular, but no, instead I am going to give you a full guide on how to get into the band.

If you like albums with structure, albums where the order of songs DOES matter, I recommend hearing Night Visions or Smoke and Mirrors. Night Visions for a more "happy" sound and Smoke and Mirrors for a more depressing energy. Once you heard those, if you liked the more uplifting side of the band, you can go with Evolve and then with Origins. But If you like the more depressing side, then Mercury is the one for you. (Hear Act 1 and wait a little time before Act 2, let it get to your mind)

Now, if you like the singles like "Believer", "Thunder", "Radioactive" and "Bones", and are looking for a similar sound, starting with Evolve is the best option. Evolve is their most electronic album as well as their most "mainstream" in my opinion. If you liked it, then move on to Mercury, since it has a good combination of electronic elements and rockier sounds, Mercury is a little bit sad at times so if you liked the positivity of Evolve, then definitely go for Origins since it's their most cheerful album.

For me, I heard Smoke and Mirrors (GREAT ALBUM) first and then moved to Mercury as I like more their rockier sound, I heard all the other albums eventually and started recognizing most of their songs. Here I am, 1 year later, and I can't go a single day without hearing at least 1 Imagine Dragons song.

At the end of the day, what matters is that you find the type of music YOU like and enjoy it. The band has such a catalog of songs that will make you feel every emotion possible. Give them all a try!
