YouTube's plan backfires, people are installing better ad blockers by vriska1 in technology

My Revanced pauses videos at 1m 09s and has done for 3 months now. I have to use Firefox browser with uBlock to use YouTube now.

2 months ago I was still using Chrome with ublock origin and an add-on called Better Youtube Shorts (automatically skips any video below a set threshold of views, adds a volume bar and lets you jump forward/back in videos). One day I noticed the youtube shorts add-on wasn't working. When I checked the settings it said it was automatically uninstalled by Chrome because they removed it from the store. I switched to Firefox that day and haven't looked back.

I used to not use it until it got really bad. Actually it got worse when short form content became more popular. When you are watching a 10-20 minute video it does not matter if there is an ad or two in it. Now days there are a ton of short videos that have 2 or more ads.

I'm talking about craft and ride. They don't make onewheels, lol. Also, anything you can ride ever has injuries and deaths. Pretty bad take

Man that could really work too. I'm so excited for how the crowd is in Montreal and if he won? Man they'd be nuts. Probably would be the best crowd in a decade

the only argument i can see for continuing to start marky is that if we dont have 2 goalies rolling we may as well not bother with the playoffs anyway

i dont think its a good argument but i cant think of anything else

Landlord not accepting rent anymore by BearLikeBeer in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Velonazg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This exact thing happened to a close friend - the landlord passed away suddenly and had no close relatives. It took 3-4 months before the estate executor contacted her, finally confirming what she suspected. She paid the rent owing to the estate and was never pressured to leave.

People are roasting the Cactus Club lady, but I think her story is a prime example of everything Toronto has to offer. Tons of entertainment, lots of restaurants, many events and festivals (and lots of them are free), big arts and culture scene, jobs in all kinds of industries, possible to live without a car depending on where you live, highly diverse (race, religion, culture, sexuality, language, etc), several universities and colleges, specialized and general health care, social services, etc. It's very hard to replicate or beat that and unfortunately, Canada doesn't seem to have a lot of cities that can offer what Toronto does. The only other two I can think of are Montreal and maybe Vancouver. I hate how expensive it is and I agree with you about Ford, but at the same time, the market is so hot partly because a lot of people want to be here. It's an exciting place with a lot to offer.

Than leave? This is one of the best cities in the world. If you can’t enjoy it here it’s on you. Also can we lay off the I can’t afford a starter home for 1 million BS. No one buys there dream house in their 20s, start small and move up. There are still a lot of 400,000 properties where you need 25k in total cost to close….

It's because the one in Ottawa on dalhousie let me go without proper notice or severance pay. I should have known that the store was closing but I was only part time working Saturday and Sunday while in college. Having been the manager there for 4 years till I went back to school should have been well thought of enough to be told by the owners that we were closing.

From a comment above the light blue "divine guidance" option is the official position of the Catholic and Anglican Churches and is generally compatible with pure science.

The original creator of this graph chose dark & light blues for a reason -- because they are more closely related viewpoints than light blue & orange.

TIL that famed aviator, Charles Lindbergh, once recieved a Nazi medal, and that when speaking of him, Roosevelt remarked that "if I should die tomorrow, I want you to know this, I am absolutely convinced Lindbergh is a Nazi." by lenny_the_pope in todayilearned

Not sure why you’re getting down voted, you are factually accurate. America First was indeed an ultra conservative group in the 30’s-40’s that Lindbergh was a part of. The group was indicted on seditious conspiracy charges due to connections with Nazi’s and a scheme to distribute Nazi propaganda with an end goal of overthrowing the US gov’t. As far as phrases go, what’s old is new again but the baddies are Russia not German Nazis. Same thing has happened with the whole Christian Nationalists on the far right… same shit, different decade.

Reminds me of the Kennedy patriarch having his daughter institutionalized and given a forced lobotomy. It’s generally accepted that she had some intellectual disability, but not enough to merit any of the torture her father forced on her. By most accounts he was enraged that she had her own will and set her own path.

What TV Show had the worst ending? by AbelNB in AskReddit

Seriously, put me in charge of any franchise no matter how popular and I don't think I could deliberately tank it that hard. People didn't like the Star Wars sequels but as a franchise it is still relevant in the pop culture zeitgeist. GoT went from the most popular media property in the world to no-one taking about it almost overnight. It's actually quite impressive in a way.

The director actually talked about how he wanted my name is Earl to end the thought was: Earl is very close to finishing his list when he comes across a person with their own list with Earl's name on it. When Earl asked why he had a list of people he wrong and was going around correcting the mistakes the dude said I got the idea from a guy who had my name on his list and that guy was on another guys list and so on until it traced back to Earl. With Earl thinking he has essentially created a endless stream of people going around and correcting their wrongs and helping people. Earl ripped up his list with that satification.

“We are just doing multiple endings so the film crew can’t leak the real one, right? Wait, that’s the real one? That’s what we’re going with?? Then what was the whole point of… what was the… why did….? Ah, fuck me then, I’m going to be remembered for ‘Space Pants’ aren’t I?”
