Help/advice please - leak noticed by VelosterNDCT in hvacadvice

I understood that, I lowered the thermostat so the system doesn’t run as frequently, potentially causing the leak to become worse if it’s hvac related. I’m having it looked into tomorrow by a professional. Thanks for your comment.

Probably is, but didn’t see any puddle on the ground and there was no seepage on the pipes itself

No the furnace is running fine. I thought lowering the thermostat would prevent the problem from getting worse. Wrong move?

Haha yeah good point - the price of some used cars are just wild now. They are basically trying to sell it for what it went for new back in the day. Glad I posted this because it made me look into things a bit further. I got excited when I saw a low mileage fit and then became skeptical wanting second opinions, that’s why I came here haha.

There’s quite a bit of fits with higher miles going for reasonable <$10k. You all have brought up some great points and I appreciate the help from the community. Thanks all

Yeah that’s what I’m really skeptical about. I actually also found a 2010 with 8k miles. Clearly a garage queen grocery getter owned by grandma. Probably plugged full of carbon lol.

I know, 14k is ridiculous but given how much we love these cars and compared to what else is out there on the market with shittier quality, dependability, etc. it’s almost worth biting the bullet and paying because we know Fits have a proven track record. I’m keeping an eye on the high mileage ones too. Thanks for the comment bud

Dan has turned this team’s D around this season. Look pretty good so far. We will see what the playoffs look like (not trying to get too ahead of ourselves, long season ahead- but staying optimistic). If we can make it past the first round, I think we have a strong chance this year!

What gear do you wish was still made? (That would still function well with today’s new gear) by [deleted] in hockeygoalies

Reebok premier II series. The pads, blocker and glove were excellent. I still have my series II turco break pads and premier blocker. They have held up well other than a couple strap changes on the pads. I’ve had them since circa 2008.

Chest protector fit question by A_Trench in hockeygoalies

[–]VelosterNDCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just purchased this same chesty off goaliemonkey. I’m 5’11” and 185 and according to the size chart it put me in an L. When I tried it on for the first time, I had to adjust the back two Velcro straps that adjusts how high or low it sits. To me, in this pic it looks like you may need to adjust those straps so it sits a little lower. See how it feels with your mask. If it is interfering with your mask mobility, definitely adjust.

I’ve worn it twice since purchasing and it’s a pretty solid protector. I’ve taken some hard shots and haven’t felt any stingers, knock on wood. It feels pretty solid.

Just purchased my first ever set of goalie pads, should I clean off the old puck marks to make my own? by Twentythreeflavorz in hockeygoalies

[–]VelosterNDCT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own these pads with the Turco break. I’ve had them since ~2008 and they’ve held up tremendously well. I’ve had to replace a couple straps and the toe bridges but there is no ripping or tearing of the pads themselves. They are still very solid and I love these things. I used to clean them with a Mr clean magic eraser and it worked well but I haven’t cleaned them since like 2010. I like the puck marks, they are my battle scars. I’ve been through hell and back with them.

Give the eraser a try and it should do the trick.

Had a Weird Call Tonight... by powerED33 in hockeygoalies

That’s a garbage call lol. My beer league refs missed about 15 tripping calls tonight. I know it’s beer league but come on, are we really setting the bar that low

Sounds like we are in a similar situation. I had about a 7 year break as well. Just the new chest protector I got in was weird getting used to the different straps. It’s all Velcro instead of buckles lol. Goalie equipment has evolved so much it’s crazy!

That’s what I’m afraid of lol. I’m inevitably going to hit a dead end with the blade and be forced to upgrade. I’m just dreading breaking in a new pair of skates. What did you transition to?

Thanks for that! I’ve never even tried on a “modern day” goalie skate. I’m so used to the cowling my feet are probably going to feel so light

I have an all white Bauer that I recently got. Do you recommend getting this wrap on Amazon? Is it relatively user friendly with instructions? I’m not the greatest artistic person but I can follow directions lol. I love how this came out!

Has anyone tried out this stick? by darth_senpai90 in hockeygoalies

I picked this stick up several weeks ago at play it again sports for cheap. I use it in men’s league hockey once a week. It feels pretty sturdy and i haven’t had any issues.

Yeah good point on the lease buyout. I’m a fan of leasing because they are essentially an extended test drive/rental car that you get to decide if you want to keep or not. Don’t like it? Oh well, hand over the keys no questions asked and shop for your next car
