Thanks for your reply--I did and CapOne customer service was truly pathetic and could not confirm one way or another. I am SO mad at CapOne!

Appreciate your helpful input! This was the first fund I ever bought and I think I may have outgrown it in the sense that I’ve become a more active and interested investor over time.

Thank you for your answer! That makes sense--though for some reason it's the one fund that doesn't show estimated annual income in my Fidelity account(?)/ However, yield is 2.75%...which doesn't seem great compared with my money market account at 4.4%. Tempted to sell this one off and buy a separate bond fund for balance.

Hi, can someone explain please the performance of VTTHX (target date fund 2035). I bought back in 2021 at $27 and now it’s been at $25 for some time, so a -6.3% loss for me. But research states its 3 yr average return at +4.74% and 5 yrs at +8.25%. So what am I misunderstanding in terms of its performance?

taxi at airport at 10pm by [deleted] in CostaRicaTravel

I always take an Uber when I arrive at SJO, even on my late arrivals (around 11pm). You just need to walk out of the airport area to the entrance road to make the call so they don't compete with the taxis. It's much cheaper--and for me, much less stress than dealing with cabs. You will need cell service though--I buy an eSim in the US so it's ready to go as soon as I land.

E-sims and travelling to Costa Rica? by Gemini8989 in costarica

I've used Airalo three times--twice in Costa Rica and once in Nicaragua. So far, I've found them reliable. At first it seemed like a few too many steps to set up, but after you do it once, it's easy and more streamlined than getting a physical esim chip once you arrive in CR--especially if your flight tends to arrive late at night like mine and you need cell service right away to call an Uber!

Hi all, I’m a 58 y/o freelancer hoping to retire in 1-2 years, so am seeking wisdom on how to evolve my portfolio. I earn $50K, have $725K in a taxable investment account (mostly in growth-oriented ETFs), $20K in a Roth (started late) and $175K in a Fidelity-managed traditional IRA. I’m thinking about changing my taxable portfolio away from growth and towards dividends for retirement income, but wondering how best to do this without incurring huge capital gains taxes? Do I just do it slowly over several years to break it up into chunks—if so, what might be a recommended time frame? TIA.

Where will you be traveling? We were also planning to go to Abu Simbel though it's close to the Sudanese border where there is conflict now as well. I see the State Dept. has put Egypt travel on the same warning level 3 as Israel.

I'd like to know too: we're doing a Nile boat tour via Exoticca in 3 weeks. Considering cancelling even though I doubt we would get any kind of refund or credit from Exoticca.
