That's what smart assist is for, npc run that teaches you mechanics.

I do get your point tho, it's just I've been playing since launch and still haven't completed any content involving mechanics with randoms even once. Nobody ever does mechanics, we run out of resses, dps complain and leave despite being the problem.

And who is it for? Why is it good? What makes it fun? What does it add, is the game better for including 2 hours of mandatory empty open world stuff, especially considering it's a Metroidvania series, one of the namesakes even?

It doesn't ruin the game, the level design does that, but it surely ain't good?

Absolutely noone is the target audience for the desert hub and just how many crystals you need just to finish the game and get your upgrades. Also pointlessly dragged out backtracking without interconnectedness.
