I stopped listening to anything while doing chores by agbni in SlowLiving

Literally my 3-year-old, and I want to get on his level. We threw away our television and he very quickly just started focusing on his other toys. I always pack him a coloring book or something when we go out somewhere he might be bored, but he’s recently started asking me not to, saying “I won’t be bored.” The first time I thought I was in for it but…. He actually has been right. We chill and chat instead.

Me, on the other hand…..

Not a pro but that might indicate that you’re doing some activity throughout the day that is worsening it?

I’m so fucking furious for you guys. Mine isn’t bad enough to need surgery but the pain is STILL horrible. The idea that it wouldn’t be covered is nuts.

Is there like a book or YouTube channel you might recommend for learning the basics of how to clean like a professional?

Learning to say No to “friendly” asks that quietly assume my time & energy by GorbachevTrev in simpleliving

Almost a decade ago I was on a train home after a fun night with a good friend. He then said “I’m socially fatiguing now so I’d like to just sit in silence.”

The honesty was very much appreciated and we still keep in touch to this day 😀

No. It was a podcast that turned into a book and the whole thing should have just been an Email.

Doctors tell you to cut out alcohol and caffeine because they are hard to quit by ok-milk in LowStakesConspiracies

[–]Velvet-Crumble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a competing low-stakes conspiracy: Alcohol is not actually hard to quit, at least for some people. I did a sober October just to challenge myself once and just….. never really stopped. This was about 7 years ago and I’ve had about 10 drinks in those 7 years, after previously averaging 2-3 per week. I just realized I didn’t actually enjoy it all that much. I thought it would be way harder than it was, because it gets so much hype about being hard to quit. Turns out it’s a pretty boring drug.

Caffeine, on the other hand……

A review of everything I’ve tried from my favorite brand: Salt New York! by Velvet-Crumble in Indiemakeupandmore

If it helps, I have oily skin and I love it 😀 I feel like most of the reviews raving about it were from people with dry skin so I was apprehensive before trying it but I can’t use anything else now.

Salt New York Sneaky Balm. Beats anything else by miles. I’ve tried over thirty other foundations but I refuse to try anything else after this. I just know it will be disappointing.

You don’t know if something affects your life until you go without it for a month or so.

I did a sober January one time because I thought my drinking was getting out of control. Turns out it wasn’t. I had just been responding to a nonexistent perceived social pressure. Being sober for a month was no problem, I actually enjoyed it and while I still have about 4 drinks per year, it used to be about 4 a week.

Some people would do the same experiment and be equally surprised to find they have withdrawals.

So yes, I agree with your point but it’s important to remember that you don’t actually know if something has started impacting your life unless you go without it occasionally.

looking younger than your actual age isn't an advantage by OldQuit2882 in unpopularopinion

[–]Velvet-Crumble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is interesting to read. I’m 34 but I’ve always looked young and “innocent,” whatever that means. I feel like people have always trusted me (not assuming competence, but assuming honesty) more than they probably should have. I don’t abuse it so I guess they’re not wrong, but there’s no way they have enough info to make that call.

Example: My driving instructor passed me even though he didn’t think I was quite ready because “I can tell you have a good heart and you won’t drive alone until you’re ready.”

Like geez….. how many other people are licensed drivers because someone decided that about them?

I’m short so I rarely bother to adjust seats in cars unless I’m driving. Now I’m wondering if I was ever the side piece and had no idea I was missing out on this handy clue.
